The Commanding Heights of the Economy

While I was in graduate school, I saw this video series in an economics class. I believe it gives a very good treatment to capitalism and socialism. I know this is a forum about guns and the gun culture, but I really believe it is important to understand some of the ideas being presented in today's political debate and how these ideas impact what we really care about.

The whole series runs six hours but PBS divided it into manageable segments that can be easily viewed online. I'm sure you'll be skeptical, but I encourage you to view it. I really believe you'll be enlightened. You'll also see where Barack Hussein Obama gets some of his really stupid ideas too....

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it.

They failed and it closed.

Now we are trusting the economy of our country to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze?

Well Marshal'ette, I think you have a point. The whole video series shows how central planning the economy really doesn't work, and central planning is the centerpiece of Obama's economic policies. The one exception is when there is a war; think WW II. And controlling the economy is, in effect, controlling your and my life. Socialism sounds good on paper but it really sucks in reality. On the other hand, Capitalism has its flaws but it still is the best game in town.

Back to the brothel:
If Obama ran the brothel, he would charge rich people, like Michael Bane  ;), a premium rate for services and people like me who are poor, would get a rebate just to use their services...... ;D Totally "fair" isn't it?  ;)

I really beleave the prereq for becoming a politician is one( or more) of the fallowing:

Started a biz, it failed

Spent your entire "adult life" in school.

weak back so you could not dig ditchs

Have some type of minor notarity(News anchor for example, related to some one famous also works.. Cough kenndy, cough... damn cold.   ;D)

Just a LAZY SOB and think work sucks.


Got your money the old fashion way... you know, pulled from the right croch.

I'm sure I will come up with more latter.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
