S&W DC v Heller commemorative
« on: October 10, 2008, 08:49:49 PM »
I ordered a Smith&Wesson, Model 442, Second Amendment Foundation commemorative revolver today. Nobody here has seen one yet, but they are at some stores now. It's the one with the DC vs. Heller laser etched on the frame. Out the door for about $420.00. Anybody seen one or made a better deal??
Mac.

Edited to add- S&W says they are donating a percentage from the sale to the Second Aendment Foundation. Good cause.

Can't wait to see YOUR pictures. It's the first one I've heard of in consumer hands.

No delivery date promised, Jay, but my dealer is looking and persistent. He is going to be live on NRA News tonight, 10-11-2008, around 10:30pm, talking about how the Obama candidacy is bringing in droves of business to his company. He and his son, Chris Tilley (2006&2008 Nationals Open champ) have a pretty clear picture of what is coming.

They are out there...I just saw one at a gun show this morning.  Forget what they wanted for it but it seemed high!

I picked up the MB M&P on thursday from my FFL. In NJ every pistol is tracked, of course, and my pickup was the 127th that day. Arm up Americans!

Tom Gresham from Gun Talk had a lot to do with bringing that gun to us.
GO TOM!

Link to his article.

Quote
The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) and Smith & Wesson have partnered to create a commemorative revolver designed to recognize the historical significance of the District of Columbia vs. Heller decision and to acknowledge the six original plaintiffs that united to challenge the gun ban in Washington, D.C.

As part of the project, an engraved Smith & Wesson Model 442 revolver will be presented to each of the six plaintiffs - Shelly Parker, Tom Palmer, Gillian St. Lawrence, Tracey Ambeau, George Lyon and Dick Heller - for their key roles in working to protect the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. The commemorative revolver is available for consumer purchase and Smith & Wesson will direct a portion of the proceeds to the Second Amendment Foundation to acknowledge the organization's pivotal role in the Heller case and its ongoing efforts to preserve the Second Amendment rights of U.S. citizens.

The Smith & Wesson Model 442 will be laser engraved with an insignia to commemorate the ruling by the Supreme Court. On the right side plate of the revolver, the scale of justice is depicted with the wording "D.C. vs. Heller" across the scale. The balance is in favor of the "Heller" name with the court date of "June 26, 2008" positioned across the top. Underneath the scale, the side plate reads "Second Amendment" and "The right to keep and bear arms" in white lettering.

The above form the S&W site:

Nice idea - to make money of us for a commemorative gun.... it's OK... I guess.

I cleaned her and put her away, because I had to order a NJ legal Mag (15 rd max). My local guy tried for a week and couldn't get one so a few days ago I ordered one from Bud's online. Should have it this week.
I haven't photographed it without the mag because that would be like photographing a woman without a head- you need all the parts. Also, I put it away to keep it out of mind...getting blue balls hurts!

Rest assured when I get the mag and my crazy schedule will allow, I will be out throwing lead, photographing, and enjoying myself.
