Some say you can never go home,....
« on: October 19, 2008, 08:01:02 PM »
Well, after a difficult but rewarding transition back to my home town of Ft. Lauderdale, I have discovered the town I grew up in, is not the same, and the mindset of the locals,(at least the gun owners), has changed big time in 20 years.

The park I used to "party" in is now a state of the art range, that is packed with a great bunch of folks, old and young, newbies and veterans that enjoy what we all do. I forgot my multi-tool, needed a flat head screw driver for my fore grip on my Sig 556, and had one in literally 5 seconds.

This range is large (outdoors) and goes to 100 yds, for $8.00 you get a two hour slot. Range officers are patient and polite, and everything up to a 50 BMG are allowed.  Most talked Obama "zombies", and scope adjustments, but there is a large international group of Americans that want to shoot their AR variants, pistols of all types, grandpa's rifle, etc,... and don't want the "Government"
telling what they can or can't buy or shoot. Thought I would post a pic or so...

Thank you to curries, and Haz, for the advice on Fl. firearm laws. I have to take the CCW class again, but the NC reciprocity still adheres so I will have no lapse in CCW coverage. ;D

Mac, I may have left NC, but have spread the word to carry on. I have had Carolina DNA put in my blood and wont ever let it go away, nobody else gets BBQ right anyway,... ;).

Might have to change my avatar when I get one. Thanks to DRTV,  Marshall and Marshal'ette, MB and all the rest who make this a great place to post like no other.

That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Glad to hear the move is going well.

Thanks for the pictures.  Nice to see the shooting, and you know that you just saved yourself a Haz chewing  ;D

As long as there are law's about how much of your clothing you can take off I'll stick with central TEXAS, and wear more clothes as it cool's down. Don't have to fight the humidity as much, easier to keep gun's and car's rust free. But welcome home anyway, and good luck.

This looks suspiciously like the range my uncle and I went to when I was visiting him in the 90's.  We took his new Garand out for a test run. Destroyed the 1/4" angle iron they used to hold up the backer cardboard! And, yeah, it was HOT.

Is there a canal or swamp behind the berm? I seem to remember that...
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Hazcat the Mountain Man!! If you want to get up high in my town you have to go to Jackson Mountain (there's a bar there). It's a majestic 17.5 feet above sea level.
