Hunting trip help?
« on: October 30, 2008, 05:47:32 AM »
I've been contemplating a guided hunting trip for next year (either fall '09 or spring '10) and was hoping for some input.  I'm pretty open to species but have mainly been considering moose, caribou, and elk.  I have hunted black bear before in Maine and would be interested in doing that again, as well as trying my hand at mountain lion.  Well, since I would like to hunt just about everything,  ;D I guess what I would like is some recommendations on outfitters or areas to hunt.  As always, any help (or a good story) is greatly appreciated.

Swoop,

Here in Colorado- Elk Canyon Ranch is a Great one.
They offer elk & mule deer, black bear. 100% success rate for last five years.
These guys are one of the best in the state.
Phone (559)-642-4005

Trophy Mountain Outfitters in Wyoming
Elk,Mule deer,Antelope,Moose, and Mountain loin.

I guess it dependes on what kind of money you want to spend.
There are some outfitters in Canada that have elk, moose and caribou.

Also Cabela's T.A.G.S. will do it all for you. And you will pay for it :o

Hope this helps

SwoopsSJ,

http://www.safarinordik.com   Caribou Hunting - Physically an easy hunt and very well run camps

leederhunting@hotmail.com   Mt. Lion - Southern Utah , you have to draw for a tag but easier than winter hunts in BC or ID. Great people. A real fun hunt.

I've hunted in BC for Mt. Goat, moose and elk but I think both outfitters have retired. Stunning country but you need to be able to ride a horse and walk the mountains.

Go to the SCI convetion in Reno. You go into overload after a couple of hours.

Thanks for the assistance guys.  There are so many outfitters on the web, its hard to even begin to make a decision.  It helps tremendously when you have suggestions to narrow down the field a bit.  I'm going to start checking these outfitters out asap and I'll mention who "sent" me.  Oooh, I feel like a kid in a candy store!

P.S.  More suggestions are always welcome.
