New Hogue grips for my Redhawk 45
« on: June 08, 2007, 11:14:03 AM »
Put some new Hougue grips on my Redhawk.  The origals were too small for my hands. (and the Hogues look cool  ;) )

Heres's the old look.

And here's the new look.  Pau Ferro checkered with butt cap.

I think you have large hands. But the new grips do look nice.

Looks good!  I tried the rubber Hougues on my Redhawk and they were just way too big, and I consider myself to have bigger than average hands.

Hazcat those grips are awsome man. Looks to me like it takes the big knuckle-crunching space behind  the trigger guard and fills it in well. The number one reason i used the S&W 629PP instead. Dang it, now I want to try that system on some pins. ;D ::) ;D I really like the rugers longer cylinder to thow them logs down range.

Tossed a couple of rounds down range last night while I was on RO duty.

The difference is incredible!  I get much less rolling in my hand.  The recoil seems to hit more straight back and I don;t drop rounds low like I was.

Getting a good hold really makes a difference.

Tex, your right about filling the space behind the trigger guard.  Much more comfortable.

The right grip is a beautiful thang, especially if they happen to be Hogues wooden models. I have several of the rubber and nylon grips, as most of my pistols are used hard. When I chipped my first set of Hogue wooden grips, I nearly cried. Nice touch to your Redhawk.

Hello Hazcat, I would love to know what the gun feels like with some 270-300 powerfactor though it. If you can let me know. I know it is a lot but I have the chance to get a redhawk already moonclipped and was pondering on it in the negitive until those grips. I love the 300pf out of the S&W 629PP but you never no. Pins will shake at the sight of me.

I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by power factor.

This is a 45LC and I shoot 250 grn RNFP at 1100 fps.  Feels good in my hand with these grips.  I can control the mussel jump much better.

Hope that helps.

Sorry Hazcat man, Powerfactor is ( bulletmass times bulletvelociety in f/sec. divided by 1000 )
a 200 powerfactor works wonders on pins, but a 300 powerfactor is like watching the grandfinally at a fireworks show. Magic on pins. Wood, plastic, and chuncks flying down range. Your load is a 275pf. and should work very VERY WELL !!!!! Thanks man
