Shooting some one over something like a political sign is way over the line.  I mean we are talking about something that is basicly worthless.  Something liike a car, or live stock I can understand.

This is basically the way I was viewing the situation.  Yes, M'ette, I agree that anyone trespassing on your property and vadalizing anything is grounds for a good beating (probably not getting shot), but we have to exercise better judgement than most as we are representatives of gun ownership and sports whether we like it or not.  Also, even if it were the mans car being vandalized or stolen, you must know your local laws.  My state, and it is one of the more liberal ones concerning defense, demands that you or someone else be in danger of death, severe injury, molestation, or kidnapping before you may use deadly force.  This man has subjected himself to felony charges in order to prevent a misdemeanor.  He has now, more than likely, lost his gun ownership rights and his right to vote over a sign.  Than is why, at least in my book, he is classified as a moron.

I think it was fine for the man to take a firearm outdoor with him just in case, the problem is that he nor any other person was being put  into danger by these jerks. Chances are he could have simply noted the license plate number, and filed a complaint with the police armed with the information needed to find the car owner and to contact him.

I know what you mean M'ette, and its sad.  It seems, sometimes, that the only people honoring the laws are those who wouldn't require them to be written in the first place.

I'll second that!  Its like the old saying "Locks only keep out the honest people."
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." [Samuel Adams]

The old community application of tar and feathers was a good deterrant in my father's day.  It happened in the town I grew up in as did other occasional attitude adjustments applied by the men of the community to various neer-do-wells who had the tendency to beat their wives or children...such action did not have the permanence of a weapon and helped to steer the slaggards in the community towards the straight and narrow.

Of course this cannot happen in our enlightened society.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.

There was a time in the not to distant past when neighbors looked out for and helped each other.Today most people have been brainwashed to believe it is just not their job to get involved, but at best to call 911.

I feel real lucky to live in my neighborhood, my neighbors and I all get along very well and usually take turns house sitting when one of us goes out of town. We live in a cul-de-sac, so I guess that helps some. I know most people don't because they are always working and staying busy with other things which keep them either inside all the time or away from home.

I can guarantee that had I participated in that sort of "prank" during my teen years, I'd have been forced to eat my meals while standing for a good long time afterward (if you get my drift).  Another sad comment on modern society.....disciplining of children is a thing of the past.

While I agree with Teresa on most of what she said, this gentleman who fired his weapon during a period of cranial-rectal-isertion gave ALL of us a black eye, much as those who bomb Planned Parenthood clinics give all pro-lifers a black eye.

This guy needs to conduct a scientific experiment........pull his head out of his ass and see if it causes his ears to pop.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!
