Well, I made up my mind. Attended the Collector's West gun show in Eugene, OR yesterday and took home my new baby. I tell you, Para makes a beautiful 1911. Got it for $700, NIB with two mags and all the trimmings and a lifetime warranty. The one I picked up is the stainless PXT model. Top of the slide and the dust cover are black, as well as the mainspring housing. The first thing I noticed is just how SOLID this pistol feels. No slide play, no play in the barrel hood, the lockup is just perfect. Action is smooth as glass too. The trigger is a bit heavy, but it is adjusted well. I'm happy with the sights, too. I'm going to replace the factory grips with something a little less cheesy for now, but later on down the road it will wear Crimson Trace grips. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am the happiest guy on earth, sitting in front of my PC with a cup of coffee and this 1911. Thank you to MB and all the guys who gave me advice on my purchase. But excuse me for now, I have a lot of staring and dry firing to do (with snap caps of course).
