The cartridge for each caliber is individually 'tuned' to maximize the effectiveness of the bullet. Flex tip material is a different density across the product line offering.

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Looks like they took a page from Cor-Bon with the "Power Ball".

Richard

PS:  After checking out their video I am of the opinion that this is the ammo designed specificly for the LCP.

No doubt it is the LCP ammo. As to the Power Ball analogy, kinda sorta.  The flex tip material Hornady is using fills the entire hollow, and is actually compressed down and bulges at the sides as it does. So the flex material starts the bullet expansion by it's own deformation properties under hydrostatic pressure. Think of it as a gooey eraser. Squeeze it top and bottom and it bulges out.

Powr Ball has a hard polymer ball sitting on top of a conical hollow, and it starts expansion more on a lever principle. Ball goes down, cone moves outward.

Looks like something I need to investigate. I wonder why didn't think to use their black nickel cases that they market as being more reliable in pistols, but then switched to shiny silver nickel cases for this ammo. They mentioned that it is easier to see the silver nickel than the black nickel in low light brass checks, but nobody should be doing brass checks in low light; you should do your brass check before you leave your house, not before you enter a dark area. Still, the ammo looks good in the propaganda video.

This is probably the company and loading that MB has been alluding to for a few months now.

Somewhere along the line, someone (who shall not be named) did say it was Hornady developing the LCP specific ammo.

The .380 has decent ME - 200 ft.-lb. The .38 +P is 394 ft. lb. With guaranteed expansion it sounds good to me. They show the Ruger LCP right on the product spec sheet. http://www.hornady.com/images/sell_sheets/09-critical_defense.pdf

Since the LCP has a "that which shall not be named",  I'm perfectly happy to try and use this Kel-Tec P3AT specific ammo 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

P.S. This Walther PPK/S specific ammo sounds great also... ;D
