Sara Brady Says:
« on: November 08, 2008, 11:53:24 AM »
Today's Brady bunch newsletter.  As they gloat over what they can do in congress.  Let me sum it up.  Sarah to gun-owners:  "Nanny, nanny, boo, boo!"

Counteract.  Support RKBA organizations.  Hound your congress critters.

WE WON, THE NRA LOST, NOW LET'S GET BUSY

Jim and I couldn't be more pleased and proud of what you helped make happen this week.   We have a tremendous opportunity with our new leaders.

I CAN TELL YOU: IT HASN'T BEEN THIS GOOD FOR QUITE A WHILE!

The NRA is reeling from their election defeats.  They lost in states where they spent millions on ad campaigns and endorsements.  Now they are quickly re-building their war chest to fight us all the way.

You know me as a do-er.  I like to make things happen -- especially when it results in saving lives.  And as much as I want to breathe a sigh of relief after this week's election, we need to get busy.

I don't want to lose any time getting the new Congress and the White House to move our life-saving agenda forward.

I want our newly elected officials to hit the ground running as much as you do.  We need the new Congress to close the gun show loophole, enact a comprehensive assault weapons ban, and stop illegal gun trafficking.

WE CAN'T WAIT ANOTHER MOMENT TO GET STARTED ON THE TOUGH WORK AHEAD.

We have many allies in Congress.  More than 91 percent of Brady-endorsed candidates won their races.  And President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden are strong and consistent supporters of common sense gun measures.

But they need to hear from the Brady Campaign right now.

Sincerely,

Sarah Brady, Chair

You know sometime I think a little lead poisoning is in order for some people - but I know we don't do things like that. Just really gets to me that she is that stupid!

It's not about stupidity - although there is enough of that to go around in the gun-grabber community - nor is it about intelligence.

It is about power and control over other people's lives. It is addictive, and once you have it, you will pretty much do anything to keep it - or in this case, get it back.

That is why the US is one of the first major implementations of a republican democracy, and why almost every other form of government throughout history is predicated on either "some of us are more equal than others", or the especially popular "F'em, kill 'em if they get in the way" forms of government.

Power and control. Remember that, it is not the American way, it is the way of tyrants, and I do believe we are going to see more of that all the way down to the local level. In other words, it will get a whole lot worse before it may get better.

I'm fully aware that there will be a new ban coming up before the congress, but I don't see it being a guarranteed law. There are too many blue dogs in the congress and with gun sales taking off, too many to collect, too many owners to strip of their constitiuitional rights. So, a new ban on any firearm, is not a certainty, only a high probability.

Unfortunately, most of the blue dogs are freshmen or lower ranking members of congress, so if they want some power, they better tow the party line. On the one hand, they're pro-gun. On the other hand, they need special positions to be truely effective in congress. Just ask Joe Liberman. He's about to lose his top position (I don't remember which off the top of my head), just for supporting John McCain.

I'm taking precautions though. I just put a Sig 556 on lawaway. I'm going to stalk up on mags, especially mags above 10rds. I wish the market didn't explode just because of one election, but that's not supprising given bHo's record and Biden's proud record of gun control, apparently while owning two Beretta shotguns ::).

I also can't wait to see bHo and Pelosi try to strip us of our rights, only to find out it's not possible, reasonable, practical, or constitutional (God willing and the right justices). Anyone who goes along with the Messiah and the Queen will hopefully be held accountable next election cycle.

I think this election was more about dissatisifaction with the current administration, rather than a desire for more government power. But more government power is what we'll get for now, so like I said, next election cycle is critical to us.
From my cold dead hands...to my next of kin to further our rights.

Never to the government. They can buy their own.

Congress and obama have alot more pressing issues... gun control won't come up unless... they fix the econ( which I really don't think anyone can at this point... its just going to take time) or a rash of "killing sprees" happend.

This is really something on our side.  Many wars have been lost by trying to fight on multiple fronts.  Obama and his crew have a war in the Midldle East to worry about, financial issues here at home, and many debts to be paid to donors.  All we need to do is be strong in our resistance, and we will not be not be an attractive target until some other issues are under control.

Wasn't it Walt Rauch that talked about body language in the face of danger.  He talked of us not wanting to cower and look down and away like sheep, but rather head up, shoulders back and look in the eye like the toughest piece of grissle in the place.  We need to be grissle in the realm of politics today.  We need to make sure they understand we will not go away, and we will stand up to and against anything they try to ram through.  We need to be the least attractive target in their political world.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

This is might very well be the reason why they would go for more legislation on weapons: Try to fix the economy and look incompetent or introduce new gun laws and look competent.

Mind you, "look" being the operative word, because in politics looks are more important then facts.

By the way: isn't she the Brady woman who has a bodyguard with a concealed gun?

Ask my firends in Australia about collecting so many guns.  While I was there I saw literally half DOZEN large dumpsters FULL of firearms of all types in the basement of Police HQ.  They all were being taken to the local smelter for destruction.  Even now they are still finding firearms periodically.  Sure they don't have it written into thier Constitution but depending on who you ask neither do we.  That is the bigger problem, now OBummer can stack the Supreme Court to make the 2nd Amendment ONLY count for the military or police.
When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

You are either SOLVING the problem, or you ARE the problem.
