MB HAZMATCAT Please call Jonathon King
« on: November 13, 2008, 10:29:49 AM »
I'm in an airport reading a mystery called Shadow Men by Jonathon King.

I's pretty good and the plot has thickened. The hero, an ex Philly cop now PI, is going to confront a possible wife beating policeman.

"....I shut off  the overhead light in the cab as I went through the bag, unwrapped my Glock and snapped in loaded clip into place. I checked the safety and slipped the gun..."

I groaned out load and and almost put the book in the trash can.

Please somebody call this guy and square him away. I'd just call him names.

"snapped in a loaded clip into place"

Just WRONG on so many levels!

He should stick to writing about that which he knows.

I went to his site but there is no way to send him an email that I could see.

What safety did he check???   ???

I'd say the one between his ears, but there are already so many errors that he probably slipped the loaded gun into the crotch of his pants next  :o

HAHAHAHA...safety too? A clip and a safety? Did he attach his bayonet or just leave it on it's mount on the stock?
Did he zero in his scope? Did he spin the cylinder to make sure all his barrels were loaded?

Man, THAT's lazy.
I knew an author back when I was a fire chief. She writes murder mysteries and wanted the first scene to be a body found in a fire scene. She made arrangements to meet, gave me beers, and picked my brain for about three hours. The scene was perfect.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

;D  Good one Jay. Once in the army we were in the waiting part of the hurry up and wait cycle, so to kill time I started reading this other guy's book. It was one of those Executioner action books. I guess this guy's suppossed to be James Bond and Rambo rolled up into one. Anyway, I tried reading it but just couldn't get past the part about the "AK-47 Anti-Aircraft Gun". I was stunned. I felt sick and confused at the same time, and handed that worthless waste of paper back.
