Your favorite books

Michaels responses on books is a great topic, I think it would be great to list our favorite books on the second amendment, shooting, shooting bad guys, post apocalyptic scenarios, post gun confiscation scenarios, having fun with guns, Red Dawn scenarios, etc... Michaels bend on Heinlein is great, my favorite character ever is Lazarus Long. Farnams freehold is a must read. Outdated, nah.

Good thread.  I don't get to read (or sleep) much anymore since my two boys were born.  But,  I remember a few that I liked. 
Post Apocalyptic - The Stand (not a gun lover's book but a great book about Good v. Evil)
Military - Red Storm Rising (incredibly detailed, technical book).

I have many favorite gun books, among them Elmer Keiths, Sixgun's, John Taffins Single Action Sixgun's, Hamiltons Bowens The Custom Revolver, Know your Single Action Ruger series by John Dougan, Ruger by RL Wilson, and I literally could go on and on.  I think all gun owners should read 1984 by George Orwell too. 

My favorite author, though is Mark Twain.  I have read every book Twain ever wrote that I could get my hands on.

I'm currently reading "Out of Nowhere - A history of the military sniper" by Martin Pegler.  It is a very good book if you'd like to learn about the history of sniping.

I just finished Stephen Kings "CELL" and boy-o-boy highly recommend it. A destruction of humanity and rebuild blah ablah.... that will have you pausing for a split second when your cell rings. I left mine at home by accident..... yeah thats it.

I really like the Repairman Jack series by F. Paul Wilson. It combines a couple of different genres and is pretty accurate on the gun stuff. If you like zombies the trilogy by David Wellington, Monster Island, Monster Nation and Monster Planet are all very good. He also has a new vampire novel out called 13 Bullets, also very good. I like how he has put a new spin on the classic monsters. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is another favorite. A book I think I have enjoyed more than my kids is The Dangerous Book for Boys. It is full of fun DIY things you can do and brought back a lot of boyhood memories. When I told my kids I didn't have video games, computers and cable t.v. when I was a kid, I was told," We didn't know you were poor growing up"! I told them we weren't poor, that stuff hadn't been invented! It is probably the reason I read so much. I have too many favorites to list in this post! For gun stuff though I like all of Col. Cooper's books, as well as Keith and Skeeter Skelton. Their stuff is timeless. Also, One Ranger by H. Jaoquin Jackson is a great read about the modern era Texas Rangers.
