Sig P220 Compact
« on: June 22, 2007, 10:55:46 AM »
Hey Michael,

Picked up a Sig P220 Compact yesterday (plug for Bubbaman on Sig Forum, great deal and great to deal with), and realized it was going to need some new grips (spoiled by the Hogues on my P229).  Have you got your P220c yet, and have you lined up anyone for grips (I am sure you aren't going to leave the plastic on long)?  And are the grips the same as the P245 (which also doesn't have any readily available aftermarket grips)?  Crimson Trace going to do something here?

Curious,
George

Just to clarify, since Sig offers so many variations of the P220...  If you are referring to the 220 Compact Carry, I've had mine for about a month.
I have emailed back and forth with Crimson Trace, and confirmed that they do not - yet - have a set of laser grips for this model.  They did encourage
me to fill in the form on the website for desired furture models.  (I'll post a link later if I still have the email, but you should see it on their main page.)
I was given the distinct impression that these are on their 'to-do' list, but that more requests from customers could nudge the priorities a bit.  I
haven't looked closely at Hogues or anything else, as I know that ultimately the CT grips are what I want, but I'd email Sig or Hogue if that's the route
you want to go.  Hope this helps.

Yes, it is the P220 Compact Carry (there is only one P220 compact size on the Sig Web page), and I have already filled out the request on the CTC home page.  I just figured Michael B would have some inside influence and/or dope on what is/will be available.  If the Sig Forum is any indication, there should be more interest than just ours.

Yeah, I got the same impression after looking at SigForum...  And I wouldn't mind Mr. Bane using any influence he's got, either!   :)

I've owned my P-220C two tone for almost a year.  I too removed the plastic grips and first I put a Houge rubber sleeve.  Then I swapped the sleeve out for a Houge full pistol grip and absolutely love it.  As far as a lazer on the grip, or built in, I do not know if they are av available yet.   :D
