Link to firearms ban in Seattle

http://www.seattle.gov/firearmsrule/

My feedback

I propose that the mayor in the interest in saving money and equality be denied all police and related protection beyond that afforded all other people in Seattle.

Yes.  So does PA, but banning in Philly at the local level is being tried yet again.

Washington State: Seattle Mayor Brazenly Attacks Our Right-to-Carry!

Thursday, June 12, 2008

Please Stand Up and Make Your Voice Heard Today!

Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels, a member of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun gang, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, is taking a misguided approach to curbing crime in his city.

In a knee-jerk reaction to a recent shooting, Mayor Nickels signed an executive order on Monday, June 9 prohibiting firearms at Seattle Center, parks, community centers, and city-owned buildings.  This ban, which includes Right-to-Carry permit holders, does not require review by the City Council and directs that a plan be drawn-up in 30 days to establish the prohibition.

Mayor Nickels’ ban is a clear violation of Washington State’s preemption statutes that dictate that only the State Legislature can enact laws pertaining to firearms.  Because of preemption, the city has no arrest power or authority to fine people under Mayor Nickel’s outlandish order.  The city can, however, charge any violators with trespassing.

It is important that NRA members, Right-to-Carry permit holders, firearm owners, and anyone interested in the rule of law to respectfully make their voice heard against this Draconian attack on our Second Amendment freedoms.  Please contact Mayor Nickels, write a letter to your local newspaper(s), call in to radio talk shows, and urge your legislators to speak out against this unwarranted attack on law-abiding gun owners.

The Mayor can be reached by phone at (206) 684-4000 or via email by clicking here.  His mailing address is, P.O. Box 94749, Seattle, WA 98124-4749.  For information on how to contact your legislators, please click here.

Even under "Private Property" law he does not have the authority, as he is not the "Owner", only a temporary manager.
Had to get that in to preempt TAB  ;D  But he might get away with it as he is not trying to "make a law" but implementing a policy. The way to fight him is to use the angle that he is discriminating against a portion of the PROVABLY (back ground checks, permit requirements) Law abiding population.

"Policy" implemented by an elected official or an appointee thereof is a "law" if it applies to the general public. They tried that angle here, too. The State slapped 'em hard.  State, Federal law and private property owners are the only determinants of where carry is legal unless the State cedes the right to a lower government.

........I propose that the mayor in the interest in saving money and equality be denied all police and related protection beyond that afforded all other people in Seattle.

Perhaps BHO should issue and enforce and illegal Executive Order that bans firearms in all metropolitan areas of greather than 500,000 people...those are, I think, the ones with the homicide (not gun) problem and the ones that elected him....perhaps they should get what they want.   That ban must extend to all law enforcement civil and government, local, state and federal as well...and especially in areas with incomes greater than $100k per year and that ban cannot be rescinded for 24 months.  Additionally, any speech against the ban, especially that initiated by soccer moms, will attach a first time $5,000 fine with SUV impoundment for 3 months and a second time offense fine of $10,000, confiscation of any vehicle larger than a Prius,  and three years in jail unless all other murderous elements, like kitchen knives, are surrendered....that should about do away with the gun control notion for another generation or two.....and do away with electing another socialist liberal for a couple of generations.............

OK....OK....I'll stop it.....

It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
