Historic gun porn
« on: December 11, 2008, 07:53:16 PM »

I was working near DC yesterday, when it dawned on me that my hotel was only aboot (I'm in Toronto now) 2 ½ miles from the NRA headquarters.  I had some free time in the morning and went to the National Firearms Museum.  Got some pretty good pictures, which I can post at a later date, if anyone cares to see them.

I did want to share the above picture with all.  If you've never been there, near the entrance is a display containing John Alden's wheel-lock carbine, which he brought over on the Mayflower.  It's pretty awesome to be standing inches from such an important piece of American history.

Enjoy!

I've been to the museum several times. For a gun nut, it is the closest your gonna get to heaven. Teddy Roosevelts safari guns, Stanley Livingstons four bore, the military guns, the variants on any model gun you can think of is almost overload. You have to visit if your in the area.

OK, one more.

Unfortunately, I didn't have much time to spend there.  I kind of ran through.  Really makes me want to go back when I have more time.

PLEASE POST MORE. The only gun museum I've ever been to was THE U. S. ARMY ORDNANCE MUSEUM. http://www.ordmusfound.org/index.htm It's still open to civilians even after 9/11. I saw an SPIW there. It's a full-auto flechette shooter and semi-auto grenade launcher. They have a Nazi remote controled mine that looks like a miniature tank. The most impressive thing to me is the 22-ton super-blockbuster bomb standing in front of the place. A blockbuster blows up a city block and the super-blockbuster is WAY bigger. Twice as big as the MOAB IIRC.
