Yesterday. MidwayUSA had a sale on everything. I picked up 2 Walther 15 round mags $41 ea. My feelings for my P99AS continue to get stronger. When I purchased my P99AS I wasn't looking for another pistol but I happened to be at a gun shop when it came in Fedex. Me being nosey I asked what it was and can I see it. I fell in love with the way it felt and the looks so I bought it. The first 500 rounds 100% reliability and about as accurate as my H&K's and my Glocks, but it felt like butter in my hands and I knew that the more I shot it the better my results. I now have 2500 rounds through it and results have been consistently improving each time I go to the range. Except for my Sigs and 1911's this is next in line in accuracy. Still 100%. I find that the Walther P99 is the most underrated firearm I know of. This gun is a KEEPER.

Well today there aren't any 12 round .40s mags listed at all.  The ProMag 10 round  is Out of Stock, No Backorder  And they have 1 Walther 10-Round Steel Blue @ $46.99   Again no 12 rounders and when they do their typically pushing $50.

I love my Walther, too but it's going to cost me ~$400 to outfit it with 10 magazines.

I like the AS trigger based on what I heard about it a while ago. My understanding is that it has three basic modes of operation: double action, single action, and a hybrid where the trigger has the light weight of the single action, but the long draw stroke of the double action, with all subsequent shots being in single action. Is that accurate?

The only other information I do know about the AS system is that it's not availble in new guns anymore. I guess it was just too smart to sell well. I really like the concept though.

Yes the trigger does have three stages.  Correct on the double and single action of the trigger.. the third is if the gun is decocked and you set the striker by operating the slide whether it be a quarter inch to just set the striker or to load the gun by a full slide operation.  Mostly you are taking up the slack in the trigger from the double action to the single action reset point.  As far as availability the guns are still listed on the Walther USA website as well as the Carl Walther (germany) Website having an AS trigger group in them.

I agree they are getting very expensive and even harder to come by.  I don't know what is going on?  I can't think that the election of a new President can have this much affect on the gun and ammo markets but it has sure gotten everyone in an uproar about the availablitliy of guns and ammo.  Will/Does the president have the power and balls to take guns away from the public?  I can't see this being a positive "Change" for the nation.  If for nothing else the growing popularity of shooting sports.
