I would admire a modern Booth after Jan 20th!!!!!!!!    :)

tt11758, when I retired from government service I received a lot of comments like what you got.  "Boy, you sure are lucky to have a retirement check and insurance".  My response was "not lucky, I worked hard for what I got".  "I put up with a lot of shit all my life to get what I have now".  I too ruined several get togethers but nobody bothers me now.

Proud to have served my country for 24 years in civil service.  A lot of hard working people hampered by stupid politicians and sure it's going to get worse with this new president coming in.

First of all, thank you for your service (and all who serve and have served).

Second, what kind of mindset makes people say crap like that? I've heard the same thing from some of my lazy-assed family members too. They'd rather sit and grumble about what they don't have. They look at all the things I own and say crap like "I wish I was that lucky to have what you have".
I always reply "The lucky part was living in a country where hard work pays off. I worked for everything I have. Instead of blowing my money on cigarettes and lottery tickets, I was making extra house payments".

Sorry to rant.

"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Jealousy, "the grass is greener," I'm paying your way, real workers need to work till 65, ...  You name it, but it all comes down to greed (on their selfish part) and only seeing what they view as a benefit without the price that was payed for that.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.

Free stuff without sacrifice intoxicates.

That 65 retirement age may well be a thing of the past unless you want a one-room flat, single light bulb and Alpo for lunch.  And I'm not talking about what you get from the government...just in general plus whatever they "give" you if you opt out the work force that early.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
