President Bush today added a convicted methamphetamine dealer, a cocaine distributor and two marijuana suppliers to the list of drug operators he's pardoned while in office, bringing his total of drug suppliers who have been pardoned or had their sentences commuted to 36.

He's also pardoned more than a dozen thieves, seven embezzlers, an arsonist, several mail thieves, a man who violated the Neutrality Act and eight Thanksgiving turkeys, but there's been no clemency for U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were convicted of shooting at a fleeing drug smuggler.

Andy Ramirez of Friends of the Border Patrol, who long has been involved in the Ramos-Compean case, said the questions just start piling up.

"First and foremost is the question that has to be asked, 'Why is the president dug in so deep' on Ramos and Compean?" Ramirez said. "Look at how many members of Congress have sent him letters, and have held hearings.

"You really have got to start to wonder … does this doper (in the Ramos-Compean case) lead to somebody really big?" he said.

Joe Loya, the father-in-law of Ramos, said he, his daughter and grandchildren were "devastated" by word that Ramos and Compean had been denied clemency on the latest list of presidential actions.

Good article.  It shows where "The Man's" head is.

The probably won't get a pardon because it would offend Mexico and all those new voters on the role.

Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Tab:
Bite me, Bush made sure to it that Ramos and Compion received the maximum sentence. Not allowing evidence, sent one of his top yahoo's to work with the judge and prosecutor, whom both are close to Bush. This says set up all over it... If the 2 did not tell the truth punishment is in order, but not this sentence. Im not a Bush hater< I voted for him both times. But when I smell shit and see shit I'm smart enough to know it. This is all about an open border agenda supported by both parties.  End game "AMERO" This whole thing was designed to put fear into the border patrol chain of  command and the agents them selves.   The real smelly part here is the drug dealer walks ???? WHAT!!!!
bad set of values if you can't see this one.

destroying evidence, failing to file a report, lieing... yeah sure sounds like they were not trying to hide anything   ::)  I personally think they should get the chair.

Rather they were rail roaded or not, they fucked up big time, they need to pay the price.

If john Q public shot some, tried to hide it, should they get less time or more time?

So you think that shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler is a bad thing, and the illegal alien scum should be given immunity for testifying against two American border guards? You are living on the wrong side of the border amigo.

After the injustice perpetrated upon Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who in their right mind would even consider pursuing a career as a United States border agent? Additionally, are there any current border agents familiar with this incredibly tragic story who will not pause to reflect, as they spy illegals entering the U.S. from Mexico, what performing their job might net them–serious jail time? I wouldn’t blame them. I will blame our president.

But this is what George Bush, and all those who agree with him, wants–open borders and free access to cheap labor. Because he is a short-sighted and unintelligent man, he desperately wishes to devalue American schools, shut down our emergency rooms, and generally spread the 3rd world throughout this country–this country that is doomed to die from the inside out as if we’re one giant rotten apple. The old adage states that “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” It also wasn’t destroyed in a day. It died under the overwhelming weight of immigrants it simply wasn’t able to adequately accommodate. It became rotten.

No I think attempting to cover up shooting a POS is a bad thing.

No I think attempting to cover up shooting a POS is a bad thing.

Compean and Ramos were prosecuted for an incident in February of 2005 on the U.S.-Mexico border near El Paso, Texas in which they chased Aldrete-Davila on foot after he abandoned a van containing 743 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $1 million.  During the chase, Ramos shot at Aldrete-Davila after Ramos thought he saw Aldrete-Davila draw a gun.  Aldrete-Davila escaped across the U.S.-Mexico border, and Ramos assumed Aldrete-Davila was unhurt.  In fact, Aldrete-Davila had been shot in the buttock.  U.S. Attorney Sutton later charged that Ramos and Compean violated Border Patrol policy by pursuing Aldrete-Davila without supervisor approval, moving spent shell casings and improperly reporting the fired shots.

T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, the agency's labor union, testified before the U.S. Senate that a medical examination of Aldrete-Davila supports the agents' description of events and complied with Border Patrol and Justice Department policies.  The convictions of Ramos and Compean are currently on appeal with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit.  At the time of the appeal, the judges reviewing the case were aware of the charges against Aldrete-Davila to which he has now pleaded guilty.

Project 21's Massie added: "It cannot be overstated that President Bush's stolid indifference thus far toward the suffering of these brave protectors of our borders and their families, while simultaneously seeking special dispensation for illegal immigrants, is unconscionable.  Now it appears that the burden to be borne by agents Ramos and Compean for unknowingly wounding a now admitted drug criminal as he fled from justice across the border is going to be greater than that to be borne by the criminal himself.  When the Bush Administration is seeking to protect polar bears from unproven global warming scare-mongering, to not pardon or at least commute the sentences of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean in light of these new-found truths will severely tarnish the Bush legacy."

So why remove the shell casings and why not report it?  they fucked up, now they are paying for it.
