There was a guy in the neighborhood I hung with during high school.  He was light hearted, care free, joking all the time.

I had heard that he was now completely the opposite.  Bitter seeming, hard, not a bit of cheer in him.

I met him again at a class reunion and found that the change was true.  I had known that he had become a detective for the local police force and attributed the change to his line of work. 

I now can see how it would be worse than I imagined.  Dealing with and understanding the motivations shown above day in and day out would drain the warmth out of anyone.

I have took a death investigations class recently, we reviewed actual cases. If most people new the facts and saw all the pics of these crimes I don't think any of them would want ever leave the house. there are some very, very sick people out there.

Yeah, and f the pictures and such were released after the trial and actually presented to the public... the kumbayas would choose not to look and still yak about how cruel the death penalty is. Such is the world we live in.
