Would you trade
« on: December 27, 2008, 08:45:38 PM »
I have decided years ago on GLOCK as my primary semi-auto, I have a Sig P229 .40 S&W left inthe safe that I rarely use, my favorite local gun store has a few R.P.G. Arms AK47's left and have made me a deal, trade the P229 and add $80 of my own cash for one of the R.P.G. AK's
R.P.G.'s are suppose to be American made AK's in Houston, I don't have an AK and always wanted one, and with Jan 20 looming close I think I may do the deal.

Any thoughts?

Pics of the AK follow.

He also has about 80 AK steel and 40'ish poly mags left also, and will let me place 20 of them away as a lay-a-way.

Thoughts?

Well, since you aren't using the SIG you may as well trade it in, but I don't know if that's a good deal or not.

I don't know thats a realy EVIL looking gun. It could turn you into a mass murderer or bank robber. Better just hide in closet. ;D ;D ;D
What the hell, I'd make the trade and take my chances ;)

Well, if you like that rifle and someone else could learn the joys and benefits of owning a Sig, then trade it. It depends on what the condition of your Sig is as to whether or not it's a good trade (Sig + $80). If it looks brand new, sell it on gunbroker and use the cash to buy the rifle. See if your LGS has a layaway option too. Those are always helpful when you need to sell something before you buy.

Looks to be a decent AK, but I wonder why the pistol grip and buttstock are from Inter Ord. and it has a Tapco handguard. I can't tell what kind of receiver it has, looks like a NOSPUD (sic?). I would call the gun 5 to 6 hundred with no mags and the dealer will probably drop you P229 for 650 to 700 and wants cash on top of it (though it might be to cover taxes). I would call it a decent trade but nothing huge. I would make sure I had to option to bring it back if there are problems (given I have no info on the maker) assuming that I would probably go ahead. Be sure to check his pricing on the mags as some of the storefront dealers are getting a premium on that stuff, but you WILL need lots of mags.

Safe queen and a little cash for a shooter is a good trade to me. I would try to haggle him on the $80 so you can have a little cash for ammo  ;D

IMO not a good trade, if you like the looks of that AK check out Saiga. I would keep the SIG and get a used Rommy for 350-400.

It looks like a parts gun with Tapco furniture. I think I'd keep looking.

Googled RPG Arms and found this  http://www.xdtalk.com/forums/ak-47-talk/73954-rpg-arms.html - 76k

If it's the TapCo non slap trigger I think you will be pleased. Basiclly the same as the Inter Ordanance StG 2000.
Price seems high, but I got mine a year ago.

Thanks all.
I have decide to lay-a-way the AK and keep the Sig, I'll try the local paper/Gun Broker route for the Sig where I think I can get more for it that way.

Thanks again
