Something that mimics the actual weight of a Glock? (Like the Advantage Arms unit, but it is LIGHT in weight)

Maybe something whose magazine capacity is truly Glock like?

 ;)

I hope it's good whoever it is..  I have read some good articles about the Advantage Arms one.. but magazines are had to get from what I hear. I dunno.. never shot one yet..  I do hope that someday you can readily get one that works well for Glocks.. because not only would I buy several.. I'm sure thousands of other Glocker's would too.. and somebody would make some $ no doubt.

Or you could just buy a used G17 -- probably for about the same price. You would not save as much money as you would with a .22 conversion and you would not recoup your investment as fast.... but you would have a Glock in a real caliber to add to the collection.

This reply came from another topic, which I removed because it was redundant. The quote below is a quote from ericire12:

"$265 bucks for a conversion...... $389 for used G17 (I've seen them regularly in $350 range)
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/654_774/products_id/411535918

Like I said in another post....buy a used G17. You would not save as much money shooting 9mm as you would with a .22 conversion and you would not recoup your investment as fast.... but you would have a Glock in a real caliber to add to the collection. It will also be a better shooter and give you more realistic practice.

Or just buy yourself a dedicated .22 caliber pistol to practice with -- also would be a better shooter and yield better practice.

*Also, reference Bane's comment here:

Thanks, Eric. My purpose for the conversion is to practice with the gun I carry. I shoot the G30 at IDPA matches and their classifiers. In practicing with gun I carry, my theory is that I will become more proficient with it and be able to handle it without having to think about it should it be necessary. To be sure, I will practice with regular .45 ACP rounds but nowhere near as much as with the .22 LR.

I remember a SG episode where MB is talking about this issue; MB if I have this wrong, please correct me. He was saying, and I am paraphrasing him, that the body doesn't really differentiate between shooting the .22 and larger calibers, it's the muscle memory that is generated that is key.

And thanks to the others for providing their feedback. I will wait to see if a better solution emerges at SHOT.

I have an Advantage Arms conversion for my G17.  I use it every time I shoot which is several times weekly.  It is very accurate (1" @ 7 meters routinely, 5 rds) but the slide is much lighter than the 9mm slide.  Not an issue for me.  If fits in my IWB holster so it is good for draw practice as well as shooting drills.

22s are very ammo sensitive.  AA advises what to use and what not to use.  I use Rems cuz they are cheap but I have had FTFs with this ammo.  CCI had no such problems.  I had FTE problems with both but with a Q tip and polishing media, I smoothed the chamber a little and that eliminated the problem entirely.  40 gr solids work better than 36 HPs.

Mags can be found in several gun shops in the area and are some $25 each.

I looked at Ceiner several times and they reportedly have had problems so I never bought one.

I like the kit and shoot it a lot.

I just received an Advantage Arms conversion kit for my Glock 30 and I can recommend it to one who wishes to get some range time without having to empty the 401K (if it still exists  ;)) to cover the cost of ammo.

With an extra magazine, the setup for my pistol was $305 to my door and it took approximately 4 weeks for it to arrive. I have 300 rounds through it and have experienced some FTF issues with CCI Mini Mags (AA recommended ammo) and some Federal high velocity ammo (AA does not recommend it), but I'm not complaining. One negative was that I had to adjust the rear sight in the dovetail as it was too far to the left; it does have the Glock target sights. I do plan to change the sights to XS sights I normally carry on the G30.

Overall, I am impressed with the setup and I can see where I will benefit from the added practice shooting with it.

Next on my list is a Tactical Solutions conversion for one of my 1911s.....

A year and three months later and I am still holding my breathe. I really want a great .22LR conversion kit for my Glock M-22 and not happy with the Ciener or AA. Hate to buy one and next week the want I tried to wait for comes out.
