Rastus already pointed out the devaluation of currency but it's hard to believe how bad it can get. I saw some pics online maybe 2 months ago and saved 2 pics out of the series to show my friends. In Zimbabwe $100,000,000,000 will buy 3 eggs. That's $398,000,000,000 a dozen too much for me. You need over a billion dollars for a meal, and I think that was after they dropped a few zeros off of the money and reprinted it. People were pushing wheelbarrows of cash around and carrying armloads of it every time they went to a store or restaurant.

Gold will always be used as money, .

Don't fool yourself. Go to Zimbabwe and ask the common folks which they want in their hands right now. A SA Krugerrand or a loaf of bread. Me thinks they will go for the bread.

Nothing makes "precious metal" "precious" other than marketing. Read how De Beers created the entire diamond market.

I have some of all 3, just not enough.

I have not posted for some time due to, gasp, being really busy at work.  I haven't had a chance to go through the entire Crash Course deal, but from what I've already heard some points seem a bit dubious.  I believe you can toss out two of his three "E's".  The only relative "E" is the economy.

I do not like the idea of the Good 'Ole USA printin' muny like counterfeiters and the socialist slide both sides of the isle are more than willing to pursue.  There are definite problems, but as a friend used to say, "We run this $h!t, excuse me, excrement."  We will definitely take a tumble in the next few years, but the USA is a rather large cog in the international economy machine.  If there is a tumble we will still be at the top of the bottom.  So buck up and Happy New Year!

Forewarned is forearmed.  Have a good attitude and make preparations, but don't believe everything you see/read.

DeBeers has the equivalent of several grain silos full of diamonds and only releases a handful at a time to inflate the price of rocks that are basically useless except as an abrasive. Platinum is in very high demand because of it's numerous uses, and only 1 cubic yard of it has been mined in the last 400 years. It's not really the same thing.

Cecil Rhodes bout a diamond mine from 2 brothers named De Beers, When he formed the diamond cartel he used Their name to try to hide his control of it. He heard about some primitive tribe that exchanged diamonds to seal wedding contracts and VOILA the engagement ring was invented. And yes, their only practical use is in cutting tools. The Russians also have the capacity in Siberia to flood the market and make them worthless.

Broso, wait till you've seen the whole thing, Energy and Environment have nothing to do with pollution or the "Global warming" fraud, it's about resource depletion, and makes a lot of sense.

If you own any silver coinage, here is a good calculator to get an idea of what it's worth with the current daily price of silver. It gives you the actual melt value of the coin based on it's silver content. That way you know the coin can't be worth less, but maybe more depending on type and condition.  Bill T.
