One of Yahoo's pic of the day.

This being the 4th of July and the recent distruction of some Tomcats this pic really shows how awesome of a war bird they were

nah. those yellow shirts are just taking in the scene, F-15 hornet If I remember my nomenclature, But I was Artillary , what do I know.

If memory serves, the story I read regarding this pic on some naval aviation forum (not sure which one; it's been awhile) was that
this was taken during a 'show of force', which is - as I understand it - basically an airshow for the crews of the carrier group, generally
done mid-tour.  Sort of a part-training, part-entertainment opportunity - firing live artilery rounds, supersonic passes, etc.  No way to
verify this or not (the pic, not the SoF).

Actually I live about 55 miles north, just drove down for the air show.  Awesome week-end, The U.S.Open was being played there that week as well.
