« on: January 05, 2009, 09:30:23 PM »
Well I'll be dammed ! Of all things to see this evening. The New York Times just posted an article on bow hunting for Elk on the FRONT PAGE OF THEIR WEBSITE tonite. And its a very nice unbiased article at that. I'm going out to buy a lottery ticket now.

Obviously an editorial screw up to print such a nice article about hunting.  However, rather than focus on bashing their other points I will drop them a note of thanks for doing a nice job on this one.

Someone just published their last article in the times. I wonder if they got a new editor yet?
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Letter to Alexander Hamilton, Friday, May 02, 1783

Same thing I was thinking. Now he has to prove I can carry a concealed bow for self-defense.

Why don't you take it at the face value, for a change?! This could inspire someone to pick up the sport, and next thing you know thei'll be shooting guns at the range next to you. As usual author of the article lacks the basic knowledge of the subject when it comes to hunting bows. Nobody in the right state of mind will shoot beyond 45' with the hunting bow, compound or not. Other then that very accurate description of the stalk bowhunt.

Because it's the NY Times. Unless they suddenly got religion, the motive is always suspect. They consistently fail the 'trust but verify' criteria.
