When he says “a lot of people,” he means himself

http://michellemalkin.com/2009/01/11/obama-gee-this-gitmo-thing-is-more-complicated-than-i-thought/

This morning on ABC’s Sunday show, Obama admitted that his reckless promise to shut down Gitmo has run into some barriers.

Quote
President-elect Barack Obama said this weekend that he does not expect to close Guantanamo Bay in his first 100 days in office.

“I think it’s going to take some time and our legal teams are working in consultation with our national security apparatus as we speak to help design exactly what we need to do,” Obama said in an exclusive “This Week” interview with George Stephanopoulos, his first since arriving in Washington.

“It is more difficult than I think a lot of people realize,” the president-elect explained. “Part of the challenge that you have is that you have a bunch of folks that have been detained, many of whom may be very dangerous who have not been put on trial or have not gone through some adjudication. And some of the evidence against them may be tainted even though it’s true. And so how to balance creating a process that adheres to rule of law, habeas corpus, basic principles of Anglo-American legal system, by doing it in a way that doesn’t result in releasing people who are intent on blowing us up.”

Later in the show, I believe it was Tom Friedman from the NY Times, that said George Bush set the bar in regards to national SAFETY. Not one major attack on US soil in 7 years. Obama will have a tough time reaching that bar. This from a big time liberal.

BHO may want to do a lot of things promised during the election. But when confronted by reality he is going to have to back off on a number of issues. Thanks god.

Kind of like campaign Clinton's "I'm going to let gays serve in the military !" Versus Elected Clinton's "Well, We won't ask, and you don't tell us."

****An Army Times poll taken last week shows that most active-duty troops oppose repealing the policy — and 10 percent say they’ll refuse to re-enlist if it’s withdrawn:

of course they will, and mostly its not for the reason of them being anti-gay.  Gay people in the military tend to be security risks.  Either for black-mail or just un-deployable.  You can't send a gay person to say ... Saudi Arabia, or Afghanistan.

The main reason they USED to be a security risk was because they could be threatened with exposure. There is no reason they can not be deployed any where. Sodomy is still illegal under the UCMJ, so if they are not violating that they are not violating any restrictions of a potential host country. The UCMJ law against sodomy was the reason clinton's idea was watered down to "don't ask-don't tell".
I base my opinions of a person on how they do their job, not how they keep their sheets warm which is none of my business. What I object to is flaunting their perversion, as if they are in some way "better" than normal people. Gun owners, however, could, and SHOULD learn a lot from the "gay rights" movement.

I think you may just have something there. Let's parade in the streets in open carry! Maybe when a few of our heads are beaten in, we'll get sympathizers in the general public to support us. Then we can blackmail and auto company into supporting our lifestyle!

Actually the comment came from a couple of MB's podcasts.  He referred to a conversation he had with a gay rights organizer who told him "I we had the kind of numbers that gun owners do, we would rule the world, the secret is to get out of the closet and into the streets". It's good advice, look what it did for them in less than 30 years.
