Bolt Action AR 15

I heard a rumor about a Bolt Action AR 15 style rifle being released at Shot Show 09

dose anyone have any info if it is true ??

they have bolt action 50 bmg AR uppers and have for years.

Bane did a video on the bolt action bullpup at SHOT. It has interchangeable barrels for .243, .308, .300 win mag, and .338

although I can see it being a "military Styled" Rifle still causing issues  ::)



we have had an issue over here in Victoria with the H&K R8  

April 2008, the Victorian Government moved to ban the HK R8 in the state, claiming that the rifle may be easily convertible to semi- or fully-automatic. Heckler & Koch disputed this claim, stating that the rifle was built from the ground-up as a bolt-action firearm

this went to court over here  I am not sure how it ended up though

It wouldn't be the first time I've heard about one. I know there are bolt action AR 15s for civilian use in Britain, it uses a short-stroke bolt that you pull straight back. I saw a picture of one a few years ago, a very interesting weapon.

Not being funny, but what you describe is an AR15 with a blocked gas system or no gas system. By pulling straight back on the charging handle, you are working the bolt and ejecting and feeding rounds. DPMS offered a pump action AR for Kalifornia at one time.

The question was about a Bolt Action AR 15 style rifle, not a .338 Lapua Magnum bullpup.  >:(  ;)

All they have to do to make an AR-15 a bolt-action is not drill a hole in the barrel for the gas port. That makes it a straight-pull bolt-action. I've seen them advertised before but not recently.

I would have thought they would need to modify the bolt to prevent it from acting as a blow back system ?

Tom, there is not any significant bolt thrust from a .223.

A friend of mine was shooting his AR15 for the first time, and it would not cycle, except by hand, disassemble it later to check the gas system, tube and manifold ok, someone skipped the drilling a hole in the barrel process.  >:(
