Wow.  So if you want to bring the Kool-Aid drinkers to the surface, just type Glock and XD in the same sentence, huh?  Just kidding.  I love my XD (M, 9mm), but I'm not unfond of Glocks, either.  I guess I just invented the word unfond, since my computer doesn't recognize it.  Anyway, XDs fit my hand much better than Glocks, but Glocks are simpler in design, and easier to accessorize, which may or may not be important to you.  I hate the plastic factory sights, the grip angle, and the too-bulky grip designs (of Glocks), but then again, Glock makes a 10mm (could be my next purchase), and SA doesn't.  My point is, I'm really an XD guy, but I don't look down on Glock guys, and I sometimes wish the same could be said of all us high-capacity, polymer gun enthusiasts.   :P

I own both Glocks and XD's and i'm very comfortable with either. My G22 or G20 keep me safe at home, and my girl keeps a G23 as well but my mom keeps a XD40. Mom cant be wrong. The polymer gun is the future and the future is full of combat tupperware and pistol packing Moms.

I did check out the Springfield XD and was almost sold after reading and seeing reviews. Then I was able to hold one. The feel of the grip was quite uncomfortable. I know there are people who will like it but I will stick with my Glock's and Smith and Wesson M&P.

I've a coworker who hates the grip of the XD, Ping. He says it makes his hand sweat, and I could see that. Did you try an XDm? The grip is quite different.
Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Just want to point out that  "grip" is not a  valid criteria for evaluating any pistol, it is to personal a thing. If there were such a thing as a "one size fits all", perfect grip then companies like Ajax, Hogue, and Pachmeyer could not stay in business.
While I prefer my 1911 and revolvers I must say that based on performance (reliability and  accuracy) there is no differance between any of the pistols on the market today therefore a persons choice must be based on the subjective s, looks, feel, brand loyalty and price range.
