I go with HighNoon holsters

I have one from High Noon and I like it. I also have a Crossbreed holster as well. I like the High noon a little better as it is MUCH easier for ME to use and put on. I am waiting on delivery of another High Noon hoster for my other intended carry gun today.  ;D

Inside the Pant as in Pocket? Or inside the waistband?

For pocket holsters, it's hard to go wrong with the Desantis pocket holster, or and Uncle Mike's. The Desantis is thinner than the UM but both are cost effective and work. For higher end pocket holsters, there any number of leather ones that will suit your needs. I carry a Keltec P3AT in a UM pocket holster. Works great.

For IWB, there is really one standard that everyone tries to emulate and that is the Milt Sparks Summer Special or VersaMax II holster. www.miltsparks.com

The summer special is the classic IWB holster for a gun of any flavor, the VersMax II, IMHO is the new standard. It has a much wider profile and makes the gun extremely stable. The reinforced mouth makes reinserting the gun a breeze.

I will interject that this is the BIGGEST ISSUE that people do not check with a holster, is the fact that you have to REHOLSTER your weapon if you draw it. And why you should really, NEVER buy a IWB holster that does not keep the holster mouth open to put the gun back in. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. Get it? Got it? Good... (ie... avoid the Uncle Mics IWB holster)

I shoot a lot of IDPA matches, (BTW this is a great place to figure out if your carry gun/holster/belt/garmets work) and my club really encourages new people to come and try it out. The biggest safety issues we have is with IWB holsters that do not stay open after the draw. It is virtually impossible to get the gun back int he holster with out violating the primary gun safety law. Thou Shalt NEVER point the gun at anything you don't intend to destroy! In order to reholster in this type of holster you have to either POINT the gun at your self to wedge the holster open, or put your fingers in the holster and point the gun at your fingers to reinsert the gun. BAD IDEA!!!!

Ok, enough said there.

Milt Spark Holsters are incredibly durable, will last a lifetime, and are well worth the money. But there are many makers that have knock offs, some good, some not so good. I use a Milt Sparks VersMax II and love it, wouldn't trade it for the world.

The other KEY issue with a holster is the BELT!!!!!!! You must have a gun belt if you wear a holster on your belt. No if's and's or buts!!! PERIOD!!!

Goto http://www.thebeltman.net/ and order yourself a good sturdy belt. You are doing yourself a huge disservice if you put a standard dress belt, or standard department store leather belt on and strap a holster to it with a gun. I cannot over emphasis the importance of having a good support system to hold your holster and gun. Great gun, great holster, cheap belt = miserable experience. Change the belt and you will be surprised at how comfortable carrying a gun can be.

I have Milt Sparks VMII. It took maybe a week of constant use before it broke in enough (and I got used to it enough) for it to feel comfortable.

Many people highly recommend the comp-tac.com c-tac holster which uses a simlar concept but in kydex. Their newer minotaur is a leather/kydex hybrid where you can swap out kydex shells to fit different pistols.

I'll grant you that Uncle Mikes requires some attention to re holster, of course if you are re holstering the problem has already gone away, and since I don't use it in competition I don't give  a crap about competition rules.
But I've been carrying IWB with an Uncle Mikes and no belt for a couple decades now and haven't found a problem yet.

Forget competition... the rules of competition don't mean squat. The ONLY rules I care about are the Cardinal 4 (Or 3 depending on which book your reading)

And Number 1 is the primary rule that we should NEVER BREAK!!!!

if you carry a IWB UM holster, you have to violate rule 1 of gun handling to reholster the weapon.

If you have a gun and holster, you need to practice drawing and reholstering. If you were to actually use your gun in a situation, the last thing you want is for your gun to be out of the holster in your hand when an LEO arrives. You need to re holster your gun.

So, you are now in a highly charged state of mind, full of adrenaline, and you have to re holster your gun, in a cheap IWB holster, let's just say it's a glock with no safety, and you not only have to violate rule 1 of gun handling, but as your are fumbling for your holster, with BOTH hands, and looking at your holster, you are POINTING the gun at yourself and trying to accomplish fine motor skills.

So forget competition, if we are training is this a good situation to be in? if not, how do we fix it. Answer... a good holster.

I'm glad it's worked for you, but is it really safe? That's what I'm asking.

If you can't reholster your gun safely without looking, then you only know 1/2 of what you need to know. It's like a race car driver that doesn't know where the brake is.

I have been very happy with my FIST K1 holsters.

I have them for P239, G19, G26 and 1911. They do make a leather kydex lined IWB holster that is way too pretty.
