Rasmussen finds Americans Split on Need for Stricter Gun Control

American voters are evenly divided on the need for stricter gun control laws but don’t think city government should have the right to prevent citizens from owning handguns in their city.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 44% say stricter gun control laws while another 44% disagree and 12% are not sure.

I bet if you asked the 44% in favor of stricter gun law, "What type of restrictive legislation would you like to see in the future?", they'd go "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I don't like guns."

Nope, I'm thinking they'd favor a ban on "assault weapons".  What a crock.

To the anti-gun crowd every gun is an "assault" weapon.  And every gun made is used to commit violent crimes, except great, great granddad's muzzle loader.

I remember when they were 1st drafting the AWB, one of the head guys from the ATF was there and said something to the effect of... it will be very hard to write this legislation as its based on cosmetic features.  This law will have littlle to no effect on crime"
