China gets something right?????

SHIJIAZHUANG, China - A Chinese court on Thursday sentenced two men to death for their role in the production and sale of melamine-tainted milk that killed at least six children and made nearly 300,000 ill.

It is a very good thing to execute murderers.

The Food and Drug Administration has traced the outbreak to a Georgia plant owned by Peanut Corp. of America, which makes peanut butter and peanut paste and sells it to institutions and food companies. The outbreak may have contributed to the deaths of six people and sickened more than 470 others in 43 states.

I don't think this was caused by criminal intent like the case in China, but it is likely it was caused by serious, if not criminal, neglect of safety procedures and safeguards.

I would like to see some type of personal prosecution and punishment here rather than a corporate fine.

Public Flogging comes to mind (another concept from Starship Troopers) but, no doubt, that would be considered cruel and unusual.

Well, the public humiliation would be the strongest lasting effect rather than the pain and scars left and it wouldn't be so unusual if it was administered often enough....

I suspect it would be a wake up call for Corporate America at all levels and types of activity.

I don't know. I don't see death as much of a punishment (it seems too much like revenge, not punishment, to me). I'd rather see them locked in a prison with a big roommate named Bubba for the rest of their lives.

If we 'tax payers" didn't have to pay for them to be there.  >:(  Being on death row is a feather in the cap for these guys.

I've set in on gang meetings with former members and LEO's and being in the "Big House" gives them respect from other gang members.

I say a death sentance should be carried out ASAP!!!

I could be completely off on this, but I thought I'd seen a statistic once that, considering the multiple appeals and legal issues of executing someone, it was actually cheaper to keep them in prison for life than to execute them.

I never understood that, since even a high-quality .45 round is about a dollar...

I gotta tell ya, I see no problem with giving them up to five (5) years for appeals, and five them a .45 round to the back of the head,  I'll even volunteer to do the deed.
