AK-47 help
« on: July 14, 2007, 08:11:47 PM »
My wife got me an AK-47 for my birthday.  It's a WASR type sporting rifle, Semi-automatic, chambered in 7.62X39.  Made in Romania.  They said it was new, but was military surplus.  It doesn't have a very nice finish on it but the inside of the receiver and the barrel look new.  It didn't come with a owners/operators manual.  All it had was the safety booklet and instructions on how to field strip and reassemble it.  Now, this is my first rifle and I was wondering if anyone here could direct me to where I could get some more info on AKs.  I haven't shot it yet, just going over it to learn what I could.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

If your wife bought the gun at a shop, have her bring you in and ask the sales person to give you a full run-down of the gun. If they can not then ask them for advice due to the fact that you would like to be a return coustomer. At our shop I am the go to guy when it comes to the customers tutorial.

Texcaliber, she bought it at a gun store/pawn shop.  They had about fifteen of these rifles all identical.  They told her that if there was ever a problem with the rifle to let them know and they would try to get it worked out, but the fact that it was surplus meant they couldn't get a manual.  However, I'm off on Thursday so I'll take your advice and go to the shop and talk to them.  You never know.  Also, 2HOW, 922 compliant?  Like I said, I'm new to the world of rifles so what's this 922 thing all about?
