Go for the Luger. You can get the S&W anytime.

Third vote for they don't come along every day. and Lugers are becoming more scarce every day. .22 revolvers on the other hand are everywhere.

I have the Luger that my mother's uncle took off a dead officer in Italy. It's not that fun to shoot, but it's got all matching parts and has some collector value. It's even got some blood on one of the stocks. The 22 would be awesome to shoot, but if the Luger might even have some value, I'd probably go for it. If it's all mismatched and is only to shoot the 22 might be better. That's is quite a choice.

I vote for the Luger.

After shooting both and having the luger jamb atleast every other mag I went with the 617.  so in 11 days I can pick it up... you know with out that waiting period I would just start killing people the second I step out the door...   That Or I could use one of my 56 other firearms to do that...

From what I've heard Lugers are finicky about ammo and some only work with hotter than average loads.

The only gun I will tolerate taking "non standard" ammo is a 22 pistol.
If I can't walk down to the guns store and buy win/ rem/ what ever   fmj ammo and have it work, I'm not going to buy the gun.

+1000. You will be VERY hard pressed to ever find a Luger, available to you in this circumstance ever again. Get it now, and avoid kicking your own ass at a later date for passing up this deal.

Love those Smiths but the Luger it would be in this case. Made a similiar decision and haven't looked back.

I have one of the older 6-shot 4" 617's.  I absolutely love it.  There is nothing for fun and economical to shoot.  I love .22 pistols of all flavors and varieties.

On t'other hand...a Luger would also be fun.

Then again, back to the first hand.....
God bless, and sincere thanks to all our fine people in uniform.  You pay for our freedom, and for that we owe you all we can give you.  Thank you.
