PARA GI Expert

Isn't the GI Expert just a design that has already been marketed by Para, but with fewer bell and whistles? I want one!

That's what it looks like on their site..bigger extractor but everything else is pretty basic.

I paid about 700 bucks for my Para back in July and it has all the bells and whistles, tactical safety, skeletonized hammer, match grade ramped barrel and trigger assembly, power extractor, everything!  As I've said, it's far more accurate than I am. 

I would think that the MSRP of the GI Expert at 599 could be bought for about 450 bucks retail.  It's pretty basic like the Springfield or Colt and I've seen the Colt A1 down at Cabelas in Hartford for 475...

What model is it? Does it have checkering on the front of the grip?

I have the LTC in alloy and no, the front strap is smooth though I don't notice any problems with grip.  I have several thousand rounds through it and one afternoon in the fall when it was raining at the range, never slipped at all.

I think that for the money, you can't beat the Para line of guns.  Match grade accuracy for under a grand?  I did a lot of research before I bought the gun and I've nothing negative to say about it.

Good to know. I've always wanted a single stack. I have an early P-13, and while it has always had feed problems, I felt pretty sure that what they're putting out now is good stuff. My accuracy is good with my old gun and I think my problems are mainly a combination of shooter error and not ever having given it enough of a chance to be broken in. I was spoiled by Glock and I should have gotten a full length to begin with.

In MA, they gotta be used though.  Gonna have kooties all over em but you can buy one of those Glock cleaning buckets to clean the previous owners kooties off em...

I put 40 dollars down on a Para GI Expert today.  The price including tax is $519.39.  Not too shabby.
I'll pick it up in about 3 weeks.

Next 1911 I get, I think I want to get one of the Springfield Lightweight Operator Champions. But then again, the next one I want is almost never the actual next one I buy.......
