AR-15 Pistols

I've never had any experience with AR-15 type pistols, so my question is: what method to you employ to fire the gun? Do you hold it like an standard handgun, or shoulder the buffer tube like a rifle? They look awesome, but I am uncertain as to whether they are fish or fowl...

Saw pics of the Sig 556 pistol at SHOT, and found this, can't be to different for a standard AR with pistol grips.

Recoil doesn't seem to be an issue.

I can't. However, if I could, I would most definitely buy a rifle instead. That looks extremely awkward and/or unpractical...

I mean really, what is the purpose? Why not go with something like an MP5 instead? A carbine?

I'm not knocking it, I just don't understand it.

There is no stock to put your cheek on, or even a sort of "anchor point"; it also won't balance like a traditional handgun...I dunno!

They're for people who want a semi-auto pistol in a rifle caliber. That's the closest thing I can get to a SBR. I want a Carbon-15 pistol.

According to today's Podcast MB says most of them have reliability issues.

Damn! I wish I could think of a super practical reason for an AR pistol...sadly, it's down to the "I want it and it's cool" reasoning. I sorta agree with Suarez that a stock (and a suppressor) makes a 9mm AR pistol a pretty nifty home defense tool. Of course, that's $400 more dollars in nifty tax stamps.

I suppose I could concoct something about "entrenched defenders..."

No need to justify, I was just curious. I've you've got the money and desire, go for it! I was just curious...I'd like to have a .45/70 BFR, but I sure as heck don't need it...

I've had this one about 4 years, and a couple thousand rounds now, and it runs very well with no stoppages. It's actually my wife's. It's the one she's holding in my avatar. It's a Bushmaster Carbon 15 21S. I mounted an E-O Tech Holographic Sight on it for her. Not much is safe out to around 100 yards. It is really a spectacle at night. With Federal XM-193 Ball Ammo it kicks out a volleyball size fireball out of the muzzle. Almost zero recoil but the thing sure is LOUD!   Bill T.

I never really wanted one...until I saw the SIG 556 pistol on American Guardian this week.  Thigh holster....I'm thinking thigh holster and a YHM flash suppressor that mates with the M4-2000 that's locked away.

Does anyone know if the Sig Classic or pistol has been pushed to distributors and dealers yet?
