.................I read it in high school...... I still think that "Animal Farm" is far more exacting to what is happening in our country now
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_farm

I just got two paperback copies of Animal Farm in yesterday from Amazon.  They were under $10 each.  I purchased one for my children to read....the other for the $^#@@ newpaper editor cousin of mine.  My wife, who graduated in the 80's, has never read it.  I suspect most who graduated from the 80's on have never heard of it.

That ^$^## newspaper editor cousin of mine used to be fond to invoke "1984"...guess I should have gotten that one too...I think I will...and send it to the $@@$!$ newspaper editor cousin.  Maybe we should all send copies to newspapers across the nation?????
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Anyone see the trend here?

All of these authors, Bradbury, Vonegut, Steinbeck, Orwell are AMERICAN!  I think that is rather interesting that all of these fine men thought of these things a long, long, long time ago....(at least since Rooseveldt's time)...and what society was capable of doing to itself!

Don't forget "Lord of the Flies" by Wm Golding...

Orwell was English, that's why 1984 takes place in London. Ingsoc = English Socialist
