When I was in the army you could go from E1 up to E-5 in small arms, 45B. After that if you were promoted to E-6 you had to go into 45K tank turret repair. 45L artillery repair was the same way. Once you got past E-5 you had to switch to 45K and learn a few more jobs. The good news it was all "guns" of one kind or another.
