Carry Holster For Glock 21?
« on: February 22, 2009, 05:08:33 AM »
I've decided to start carrying my Glock 21 to work and back. I work nights and drive 27 miles each way, some of it on freeways through really bad neighborhoods. Anyway I don't want a concealed shoulder rig because I can't wear it to work, so I just ordered this one from Midway:

Does anyone have experience with this one? Galco is 20 minutes from my house, and I know they make good products. The problem with the Glock 21 is no dealers stock any holsters for it. Not even Cabela's, or many of the "tactical" shops around here. I don't want to leave it in my car, and this holster will allow me to keep it in the top part of my lunch box without anyone being the wiser. If I do carry it I like the simple belt attachment. It rides high enough so a coat or jacket will cover it.  Bill T.

You might try to find something that you can take off without undoing your belt.  Something with snap loops. Check this site out  www.fist-inc.com

I carries a G21 at work for several years (even tho it was not allowed)..my excuse is I felt my right to self protection and the 2A trumped the employer's rights.  Had they not forbidden keeping firearms in locked vehicles in the parking lot also, I may not have carried into the building (TAB, there were no technical reasons why a large piece of metal could not be carried.  The restriction was only put in after Ohio passed their CCW bill.  Before then company policy sated that illegal weapons could not be carried to work.  It was not uncommon for the firearms enthusiasts to have "show and tell" in a close office)

Anyway, I used a Smart-Carry holster.  I wore Office Casual clothing with a pleated front and I was unable to spot the G21 in a mirror when specifically looking and knowing it was there.

My job did not involve any type of contact with objects where the holster is placed.

My only concern was that the draw would be slower than a non-tucked IWB or belt carry.  A tucked IWB carry requires 2 hands and I believe it is slower than the draw from the Smart Carry.   A draw from the Smart Carry can be done one handed..but may snag.

Actually, I'm not sure of what they "allow" or don't. I like you, feel my right of self protection is all that matters. Especially now with the current economic situation this country is in. I feel there will be far more crime in the future. I have a lunch box with a indiscreet, zippered top half that is perfect for keeping it in. It's getting crazy out there, and my wife made me promise to start carrying to work. To me it's just good common sense.  Bill T.

I like the Highnoon IWB holsters and I had a Glock 30 and a CZ P 01 and they both fit well and easy to get off the belt

I have a Tucker Gunleather "The Answer" for my G21 SF. I also have one for my Nighthawk T3. It's a custom fitted IWB holster that is part leather and part Kydex. They are terrific!! Your G21 will disappear and the weight is so evenly distrubted that you can wear it all day in comfort. Just Google: Tucker Gunleather. Rob will do you right.
Remember that concealment may not be cover.

I have the same holster for my HK USP 45.  I like it alot!  It rides high and is easy to draw from and to reholster.  I have several Galco holsters for various pistols IWB and hip carry and enjoy each one.

I'm still waiting for it. Midway said it was shipped last Monday at 3:30 PM USPS Priority Mail. I wish I would have paid the little bit extra and had them ship it UPS. USPS doesn't provide any tracking information. It gets here when it gets here. Hopefully today.  Bill T.
