S&W just recalled a rifle too. I'm almost afraid to but a gun from anyone.

In an email I got it says, "This recall includes all PPK and PPK/S pistols manufactured by Smith & Wesson."

Oh well.....mines only a month old.  Maybe they will smooth out the safety.

At least I'm not afraid it will come back with 10lb plus trigger pull like an unmentioned poly pistol I have.

We almost purchased a new one made by S&W but held off as we'd read of issues with feeding problems with a lot of them.

Lucky for us we found one a month or so ago at a gun show.  Veryl lightly used and well taken care of and maufactured by Interarms.

S&W seems to have botched this gun.

This was discussed ad nauseam on another forum specific to this op. S&W acquired this line from Interarms, and of course put their .02 cents into design. The Walther "bite" is gone as they have extended the tang, and between the former and the latter designs, S&W did not make the PPK/S as "loose" as the Interarms.

I have several boxes of .380 ammo of every make and type through mine and never had a feed issue. It did "loosen" up after a couple of boxes, but the decocker/safety was stiff for much longer.

I don't think S&W "botched" this gun, I think like other pistols "that shall not be named", One of the top manufacturers of firearms just had one piece of the package give them a hard time.

My Kel-Tec P3AT goes with me most everywhere, and feeds fine with a variety of ammo as well. Some will say the Kel-tec is "quirky", some will say otherwise.

So it goes,... at least some got an free mag and a hat....

Hello red364, I own several S&W's and in all the excitement, found out about the recall for the PPK/S, here at DRTV as well.  If this recall pertains to you, go to the S&W website, click on the recall banner, and verify your serial # range. The broad range of production years covers most of the PPK/S produced by S&W. Fill out the quick form, and a mailer and instructions will arrive,... :-[

Yes it sucks, These "little" pistols aren't cheap. Although I have had no issues with mine (purchased Spring 08), if it has a bug, I want it right.

This is a follow up. After receiving my email and print label instructions, (which didn't work), I sent an email to CS at S&W.
Got a response to rensend info.

OK, mail from S&W has instructions and shipping label UPS 2nd day air.

OK, go to local UPS store, NOT allowed to ship, has to be done from UPS Terminals.

OK, Terminals closed on Saturday. (Great.)

OK, Instructions say you can call UPS for a pick up, UPS employee says drivers won;t pick up firearms. (Really Great)...

OK, So here I am with a $500 paperweight I can't get back to the mothership unless I take time off work to get to the UPS terminal.

All this for a "potential" issue with the hammer block and decocker.

Plus the unmarked fiberboard box I had to buy.
Not even going to get a spare mag or hat. :-\
