I got my new Sig P220, at least its new to me, from my uncle yesterday. The pistol's around 15-20 years old, and It was my father's service pistol when he was a trooper that patrolled the highways. When the department switched to the P226 ten years ago he purchased his P220. After a couple months my old man sold it to my uncle, mom's brother, who's another LEO. Unfortunently, in ten years, my uncle has never fire the weapon. Recently though after I told my uncle I was looking to buy a new full size pistol and asked for a recommendation, he told me he'd sell me the 220 for what he payed my dad, ten years ago. I said hell yeah.
So now I got a Sig P220 .45 ACP, with three mags. Some finish wear on the slide, from holsters, is the only wear on the gun. But I'm excited that I've got the pistol my old man trusted to protect his life, so many years ago while on patrol, and now I can trust my safety to it.
I'll do a range report in a couple weeks. And if anyone can suggest a way to refinish the slide let me know.
