NRA Organization - whose my NRA "rep" and how do I contact them.
« on: February 27, 2009, 08:10:39 AM »
Hmmmm.  While the NRA hasn't always made wise choices, they are the preeminent gun rights organization.

So I'm a little ticked at Wayne LaPierre's wishy-washy quote in the ABC news story about the AWB.  How do I contact the NRA?  No no. I know their general mailbox, which I write to fairly often.    I don't want my email to go into a big pile.  I want to talk to "my representative" on the board.

I think we have an organizational problem here (everyone replies, "you think?")  I am also a member of the ARRL and there we have geographically assigned elected representatives.  Each issue of the ARRL magazine (QST) lists those reps so the members can get in touch with them.   I don't see such a list in the AR.

How do I get in touch with the NRA board members geographically closest to me?  Where can I find a list of current board members and their home states?    I've spent some time seaching NRA.Org but can't seem to find this information?

alfsauve, there is a new website up that Jeff Knox (son of Neal Knox) has put up. Scroll down and look for NRA Board of Directors. The COMPLETE list of BODs was recently pinned. Also don't hesitate to register and start a dialog on that issue.

Thanks, Rebel.

I had been to two dozen sites this morning looking for just that info.

I don't know why but I'm really ticked at LaPierre's quote in ABC news.  (It may not have been accurate....I'll give him that.)   These people (NRA/ILA employees) are paid good money and should present the strongest possible public image for us.  Saying, "I think" the 2nd amendment protects PIFs (AW's....so-called) just doesn't hack it.  From Star Wars.  Do or not do, there is no try.   The 2A does or does not, there is no "I think".   It's tantamount to saying, "maybe".

No problem...you might also want to check out the NRA FIELD REPS. My understanding is that the Directors are not specific to geographies (I could be wrong) but with 76 of them they do come from all over the US. For a list of Field Reps they have them listed on the Friends of the NRA events page (why? don't ask me. The NRA website could use some fixing up !). But just click on the state and you'll see the Friends events listed AND the FIELD REPS on the right side of the page with contact info.

Very true. Maybe.. and it's a big maybe, if Ted Nugent becomes an NRA Board Member or "spokesman",  the "maybe's" and "I think's", will be phased away. ABC would have loved this:

"To show you how radical I am, I want carjackers dead. I want rapists dead. I want burglars dead. I want child molesters dead. I want the bad guys dead. No court case. No parole. No early release. I want 'em dead. Get a gun and when they attack you, shoot 'em."
Ted Nugent

Perhaps even Mike Huckabee.
"Our Founding Fathers, having endured the tyranny of the British Empire, wanted to guarantee our God-given liberties. They devised our three branches of government and our system of checks and balances. But they were still concerned that the system could fail, and that we might someday face a new tyranny from our own government. They wanted us to be able to defend ourselves, and that's why they gave us the Second Amendment."
Mike Huckabee

I like this one:
"We believe that if you knock on our front door and you're hungry, we'll ask you to go sign the guest book and try to feed you. But if you break through the window in the middle of the night, then God help you."
Mike Huckabee
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Hello alfsauve,
I saw the same quote and also thought that was not a good response from the NRA.
I agree that the response should have been definite and have no "wiggle" room.
Good Work.

I understand the directors are chosen "at-large", but I thought I'd write those residing in my state.  And thank, Rebel, for the "field reps".  I will write them also.

I want it clear to the NRA leadership, I will not take compromise anymore.   [Okay, that's not true, I will compromise on revoking the 1938 GCA if they only revoke the 1968 GCA......this year.]

May I suggest that in order to have our voice heard, we must not only let our congressional reps know, but we must make it clear to the NRA as well.   NO COMPROMISE.
