I saw them earlier. ??? ???

Hey, Frisco...I've been toying with the idea of making a pocket holster for my NAA Mini .22 Mag. (mainly 'cause I'm too cheap to buy one). Do you know of a primer on how to do it? Especially how to "wet mold" the leather. Thanks.

Is that the percussion Ruger ?

Yes, it is the 45 Cal Ruger Old Army charcoal burner.  Pretty neat and fun to shoot.  It just sits in my gun safe....and I thought it needed a holster.  I won't get rid of the gun, because it belonged to my Dad.

Very nice holsters, Frisco. They look professional.

Where'd you get the leather? I've made a few but not anywhere close to that nice. I can't get good thick leather around here. I've found some on the net but you have to buy too much up front and it costs too much that way.

I usually go to a supplier in Tucson....Rocking J Leather.

Tandy is a good place to start, they should have one semi close to you.

If you want to buy online from Tandy...get a 7-8oz shoulder, which should run about $40.00.  You can get 3 holsters from it.

It is thicker, and leather shears are a MUST.  Exacto knives just won't...wait for it....wait for it....cut it.  Fine auto body sand paper from your local auto parts store is good for smoothing the edges.  Wood sandpaper will come apart on you.

Like I said this is all advice from a hobbyist.  Professionas will tell you I am wrong, and that I don't know what I am talking about.  I just know what I use.

Thanks Friso, I'll check them out.
Like you, I stitch by hand, so I'll pick your brain a little more.....I use a hand stitching tool (like those used for saddle repair), what type needles do you use?

Thanks.
