Don't know about the carbines but I have a Hi-Point 9mm Compact that shoots great.  Has never failed in 2000+ rounds.
All tipoes and misspelings are copi-righted.  Pleeze do not reuse without ritten persimmons  :D

I own a Kel-Tec Sub2000 to fill that role and like it alot. Some of the guys on a Kel-Tec forum I frequent have both. The only complaint about the Hi-Point that I've seen the Kel-Tec crowd mention is the use of proprietary mags with no large caps available. Not first hand info and quite possibly wrong but hopefully of some use.

If you're not familiar with the Sub2000 it comes in several flavors with common handgun mags, mine uses Glock mags and it folds for small storage. If you already own a handgun in one of the available models that can be quite convenient especially if you own a number of spare mags.

Here's a link http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/sub2000.html

Looked at the kel-tec Big Saucy, true the Hi-Point is limited in rounds but I expect somebody to come out with a hi cap mag soon and at twice the price I really dont think Id go for the KT, reviews on the HP are high. Still thinking.

2HOW, I didn't realize the price differential was so high, I paid about $320 for my S2K. How much are the HiPoints going for these days?  I haven't seen anyone bad mouthing the HiPoint so not trying to talk you out of it just wanted to make you aware another option. Looks like you're already on top of it though.
