This is why people hate banks.
« on: March 12, 2009, 06:25:18 PM »
So I wrote a check on 11/5/08...  it was to a sub for hard wood refinishing.   I know he cashed it ( I was at the bank when he did)  so why the f..k is my bank showing that check has never cleared... they took the money out alright, but they are showing that number has beeing skiped...  I've been on the phone, to the branch... I want either my money back or showing that check cleared.

After a day of trying to deal with this crap, I'm pretty pissed off... I really need to start charging people "training" fees when I teach thier employees how to do thier job.

This year alone I have found 4 bank errors... 2 of them would have made the check bounce if it was not for me having Over draft protection.  Its kind of funny, they didn't want to send letters to the credit agencys until my lawyer came with me to the bank.  Funny how that works.

I'm at the point where I don't know who is worse, "bankers" or RE agents.    They make used car salesmen look honest.

Sad when you need your lawyer to keep your banker in line........damn, TAB....I bet you ARE pissed.

I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

Sorry to hear that, TAB.

The reason I left my last bank...they would "lose" $100 every month (happened like 3 times in a row). When I would call them, they told me that they would have to have the reaserch department investigate, and it would cost me $30 an hour for their time. I had a lawyer friend who called them for free. Funny how they "found" that money without the help of the research dept.

Just make sure that your lawyer stays honest.

My little girl works for a local bank, six or seven branches in five towns.  Very solvent, only lend money to people with REAL jobs and decent credit reports.  Seems rather logical to work that way...

One thing with her bank....any problems with accounts are corrected immediately in favor of the customer.  Without question!  Then they figure out what happened later and if it's the customers fault they give them plenty of time to correct it without overdrawing an account.

I fired Bank of America for a similar problem TAB, good luck!  I had someone charge train tickets on my checking account for the English Channel route from Great Britain and they didn't believe it wasn't me!  Took me three weeks to get my 500 bucks back...

I'm not sure if I want an honest lawyer...   ;D

She is a long time family friend... let me put it this way, my grand parents and her parents have been friends for almost 70 years now.  She just happends to be a great lawyer and one that does not take shit from any one.   Thats why I choose her, she is a real pitbul.

Many years back I was in the Army stationed in Norfolk.  Been having my check sent to the same bank (direct deposit) for over 6 years at that point.  All of a sudden checks are bouncing like a pinball machine.  I call the bank (Mellon) and that say "no deposit".  I check with Uncle Sam "check sent and deposited".  This goes back and forth via phone for about 48 hours then I jump in the car and head to Pittsburgh.

Get to the bank (in uniform) ask to see the mgr.  "He's busy" I'm told.  I ask a bit louder, then louder, then sprinkle in a few expletives and low and behold the mgr comes out to see what is going on!

I relate my story and hand proof of deposit from the paymaster.  Well "We don't make mistakes" and "We'll look into it."  My Dad is there with me and inquires into the balance in his account.  BINGO, "lost" money found.

I say, OK, you screwed up, rescind all bounced check charges and write letters to all recipients of said checks explaining YOUR screw up.  "You should have checked your balance before writing said checks" I am told.  I 'casually' mention that as I am in the Army with a whole passel of lawyer types in uniform with me who had nothing better to do than defend me and make things 'lively' for the bank and said mgr personally, he might want to rethink that.

Things got right.  ;)

TAB and Haz's stories remind me of that saying why someone attacks someone else - it's because they think they can and get away with it. There's a parallel here to carrying a gun: If you come armed with a couple of lawyers and the other side knows you have the ability and will to use them, they will come around to your point of view......

It's like Mike Janich teaches ,Some times a gun isn't the appropriate WEAPON to use on someone.
