I have heard from a couple vettes( WW2 and korea) that a M1 but to the forehead will kill.

The "metal" buttplate on my Mauser was/is there for a reason,,.... and comfort d*** sure wasn't it,...

I would thing the heft of the M1 ( ~ 12 lbs) would do alot more damage then some of the lighter modern fireamrs.  Not something I want to get hit with.
