Look, if your old man has the eyesight and skills to use that .45 correctly its not even a close call. The antiquated rust bucket wins hands down everytime. Plus you have far more, and better, choices of defense rounds in .45acp than .45lc. If he's worried about getting to old to stiff wrist the .45 correctly etc., I'd still wonder about the weight and recoil of the judge. Maybe a folding stock, pistol grip, semi-auto (to reduce recoil) shot gun in a light weight twenty with an 18 1/2 inch barrel and a laser?

Its not that..he just wonders if a blast of 410 is more lethal than a cor bon hollowpoint, which is what he has in his GM. I contend that 410 buck is the same as a 5 or 6 round burst from a 32 auto. He has an 18 inch 20 ga mossberg pump, but he realizes you cant stick a shotgun in your pants to go out and check the mailbox when you get home from shopping ;D

Actually you're both wrong on the buckshot  front. The .32acp has more velocity than the buck, as well as more accuracy. You're comparing round ball to to a hollow point bullet that will fill the barrel, AND get spin from the threading. Remember that buckshot is held in a shot cup until it leaves the barrel. As far as hiding the shotgun in his pants, he just needs REAL tactical pants. Survey says......Zoot Suit! ;D

The Judge is awesome I wish I could get one here in CA, but short barrel shotguns are on the list of NO NO's here.

Wow. the Judge as well as the Thompson contenders are rifled to make them a conventional firearm, not a shotgun. CA needs to split in half  - south for the fruits and nuts (illegal immigrant apologists as well) , north for sane people.

San Francisco is considered Northern , the divide is east and west,( and never the twain shall meet) the flakes and traitors are on the coast, the people inland are better.

Hmmm...... I have the 'Ultra-Lite' 2 1/2" Judge [22.5 Ounces].  ;D  Right now I'm carrying 3 Rnds of #4 and 2 .45 LC for Home Defense. I live in the middle of 300 houses and the limited penetration of the #4 Shot through walls is a plus. I've been looking for 000 Buck loads in 2 1/2" but they seem to be out of stock everywhere.  >:( >:(

My main question at this time is .... what effect, if any, would firing rifled Slugs through the rifled barrel?  The Taurus Manual is the "ALL Revolver" Type, and doesn't say anything Slugs.

You could use the slugs, but 45 colt is a bigger slug.  I finally found 3" 000 for my Judge, so I feel your pain.  Just keep checking Wally Worlds and ask if they have the shot on order at  gun shops you visit.

Why, yes....I'm the right-wing extremist Obama warned you about... ;D

I just wish Texas was as free and independent as everyone thinks it is...   :'(
