Appearing at a San Francisco Church, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told a group apparently comprised of illegal immigrants and their families that enforcement of existing immigration laws, as currently practiced, is "un-American."

The speaker went on to condemn agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for doing their jobs:
enforcing immigration laws and arresting people living in the United States illegally, according to Fox News.

While ICE was implicitly described as “un-American,” though, the crowd attending Pelosi’s talk was told that they were "very, very patriotic."

"Who in this country would not want to change a policy of kicking in doors in the middle of the night and sending a parent away from their families?" Pelosi said in a video taken at the event. "It must be stopped....What value system is that? I think it's un-American. I think it's un-American."

Pelosi spoke at the invitation of Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., who has organized a 17-city, cross-country tour called United Families. He says it is intended to put a human face on the immigration debate.

"We think that families are the cornerstone of our society and our nation, and an immigration system should preserve those families, not destroy them," Gutierrez told Fox News. The congressman is collecting petitions that ask President Obama to "stop the immigration raids and deportations that are tearing our marriages, families and children apart." He is expected to present those petitions when Hispanic members of Congress meet with the President Wednesday.

To chants of “Si se puede,” or “Yes we can,” Pelosi went on to slam work site enforcement by ICE.

"We have to have a change in policy and practice and again ... I can't say enough, the raids must end,” Pelosi said. “The raids must end.”

"You are special people. You're here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our country's future. That makes you very, very patriotic."

Have you ever noticed that if you rearrange the letters of the word "Immigrants" and add a few more letters it spells out:

Leaving aside the immigrant bashing which I do not approve of, because hey, if we didn't hire them they wouldn't be here. (If you want to get pissed, please direct it at the chamber of commerce, the club for greed (I mean growth), contractors, landscape companies, hotels etc who would rather exploit an illegal than pay a decent wage to an American). The fact is I find it laughable that pelosi thinks that when we can't control the South to North flow of immigrants with law enforcement, we can control the the North to South flow of weapons with gun bans. Hypocrite much?

I'm not an immigration basher, I am an illegal alien basher. All I want to see of them is elbows and asses as they head south out of my home. Anyone who gives illegal aliens incentives for coming here is doing wrong also, but that does not justify people coming over our border illegally.

Guys, I'm not arguing that they should be here. If I had my way, we'd pass the Dream Act (which lets those who came with their folks at age 16 or under stay if they get an Associates degree or better, or join the military or do 2 yrs in a community service gig), and give an immediate green card to anyone who joins the military (along with spouse and child) and citizenship after four years service. Beyond that, I would propose a 90 day amnesty to register with INS, get your affairs in order, and in return get a free plane ticket and the opportunity to apply legally with a bonus point for having complied. Anyone else your gone, and a six month jail term if you're caught a second time.

My point though, is that they wouldn't come if WE didnt hire them. Its the same logic as the drug war or prohibiion. As long as there is a demand someone would meet it. As the elder (and smarter) President Bush was told by the Colombian ammbassador after Bush called him in for a scolding over cocaine trafficking, "If you people would stop buying it, my country wouldn't be facing these problems. Why should our society suffer to clean up your mess?". Wise words. I don't want to see video of raids where JUST illegals are hauled off. I want to see the manager in cuffs as well. I want to see a follow up raid the next day at corporate HQ where the CEO gets perp walked. I don't think you'd have to do this too many times to get corporate America's undivided attention. Remeber "If you build it, they will come". Lets start going after the ones who build it and also understand that its going to cost us a little more to get our lawns mowed, go out to diner or stay in hotel. I'm willing to pay. How about you?

The larger systemic ramifications are the one's who come here with the intent to have children here, (automatic citizenship), using the emergency rooms as primary health care facilities, and the ease they can acquire a drivers license/social security card. This becomes a burden on you and me because the COST is passed on, because they don't pay.  Also, if they are injured on the job, they automatically get worker's comp, 66% of their pay tax free, which is fine for them, and this COST is passed on to us.

They send money home to support their families, if things work out, they send for the wife, kids, cousins, etc,... They live 10 to a house and work hard, I know, I know. But they need to do it LEGALLY.  Not all of them are here for noble reasons either.

Watch America's Most Wanted lately? Larger and larger group of Hispanic (mostly) illegal aliens that commit crimes here, lay low across the border and then come back,,,repeat,...

Doing it illegally, is a financial burden on us citizens. The employers play a role, because "Americans won't work" at a chicken processing facility for $7.00 an hour. Etc,... on profession...

I think if a "real and feasible" Imm Policy was in place, not some Democrat bashing our existing laws giving sanctuary, was in place, the offset costs would be the same if not lower, because the other COSTS (healthcare mainly), would come down.

Politicians love to "talk" about it, but neither party does anything. Because here in the US, we have loopholes that let them vote... ACORN sees to that. How's the Border Fence/Wall coming? Abandoned yet?

Analyze good ol' Europe's illegal immigration policies, no papers; no stay. The Muslim pop. in mainland Europe is booming, and they are doing it legally, and France, Swiss, UK, are realizing their own problems with LEGAL Imm. Policies.

Sounds good to me, Nancy still won't approve though, she hates the military.

ILLEGAL Aliens should be given 30 days to leave voluntarily. After that any found here should be deported with family in the clothes they are wearing, all other assets and belongings confiscated to defray costs to society. Companies hiring illegals, Facility manager and everyone involved in hiring jailed 10 years, (conspiracy to violate FEDERAL Immigration law ) Company fined $100,000 Per illegal. "Sanctuary Cities" and States that do not enforce immigration laws Lose all federal funding and politicians involved in decision get 10 years for conspiracy.
Illegal aliens are breaking the law simply by BEING HERE. They deserve no benefits, no sympathy and no rights. Those should be reserved for CITIZENS.
