You need to have a "gat", you never know when some ruffian will stick a "roscoe" in your face  and demand your wallet.  ;D

I know that Bond makes a great derringer.  My hesitation is that it only holds two shots.  Michaels solution is to use modern stripper clips for 10 extra shots.  It will however take approximately 16 minutes to fire those shots.    ;D

I carry a HK USP 45c when the weather allows which gives me 9 very quick, very accurate shots to stop any ill advised behavior by a low brow.

When the weather does not allow, think Texas Summer, I carry a J frame in a Nemesus pocket holster and an extra speed loader in the other pocket.  It is a compromise, less effective bullet, but one I have thought through and decided that a little 38 and harsh words are better than harsh words alone.

I consider a j frame an experts gun.  It is HARD to shoot accuately!  I can fire my 45 all day an never tire but that little 38 wears me out.  So I practice, and practice and practice.

Yes, God Bless Texas!

I don't own a derringer and don't have much of a snake problem where I live.  It's more the large divebombing mosquitos that are the norm here on the central MA delta of the Blackstone Valley.

I've always carried a large frame gun, a Beretta or now, my 1911 LTC.  I don't expect ANY gun I carry to be comfortable in all conditions and like Rob, there are a lot of times when I can't carry.  For me personally, the smallest thing I'd want with me is a .357 mag and practice with .38 special, preferably with as many rounds as possible.  I think that there are many great options for small frame revolvers rather than the two shot for most of us.

MB has at least one of every gun on the planet and access to far more resources than any of us.  Ya gotta love that but, it's not practical for the rest of us.  Use the funds you have wisely and literally get the most BANG for the buck....

You're right about me probably having more guns than sense! LOL! It does give me a chance to see what works (or at least what works for me) and what doesn't, which is sort of my job. I actually think that if (when) times get really tough and I have to sell off stuff, the Bond derringer would make the "must keep" pile for a couple of reasons...with the extra barrels it's a versatile little beast, and as a second hide-put gun I've rather have 2 big than 5 or 6 small. FWIW, the other handguns in the "must keep" pile would be my old Heinie 1911 .45, my now-ancient S&W M29 I bought new in 1973 and a Ruger Single Six .22.

Long 762 has issued a throw down, now I must shoot 10 rounds from my Bond .357 in under 16 minutes, since the speed strips hold 6, I think 14 shots is in order, 2 to start, and 12 to load. Not that I want to speed load a derringer under fire, but we have not seen this before, I don't even know if SASS, has you reloading the derringer, I would guess probably at some point. So thanks for a new, goal!! Hopefully video. Now I just have to find my speed strips.

I'll be looking forward to it. I've taken enough guff over the two shots thing. But honestly, I'm going to the mall not the OK corral, for that, I'll bring the glock or find an elsewhere to be. I'm just working on my draw and aim. I haven't gotten to the rapid reload (new gun and it took 3 weeks to find .38 snap caps). Please, if not video at least an after action report. My local range tries at least, to be a bit anal about safety and there's only so much RL training we can do. (Gven some of the nimrods who practice here I can't complain, Scarface was a movie guys, yikes). Anyway, as someonewho really likes that little gun, inquiring minds want to know.
