Always interests me how people who have and havent been there respond so differently to that video.

Great performance.

The story goes that Oliver Stone hired Ermey to find him an actor to play the character  of the drill Sgt.  He told Stone that he wanted to play the role in the move but Stone said 'no'.

On the day of casting call Ermey showed up in full uniform and character and Oliver Stone relented and gave him the roll.  ;D
