Thanks Rebel. I have been trying to explain this to my Optometrist for quite a while.

US Safety glasses have so many to offer, I still use the safety lens for my regular glasses.

Thanks for that link, Rebel.  That helps me for what questions to ask.

I think I have come to the conclusion that I am going to need multiple pairs.  I think I will end up with ESS or Revisions for shooting and working and something a little lower profile for streetwear.

I had my safety glasses for the shop made with progressive lenses so that I can read, use my desktop in the office and see the front site on my 1911 clearly at arms length.  I can't see very well at distance with them but that isn't what I needed them for anyway.  They ain't too pretty, LensCrafters Model No.:  "Geek"  (without the masking tape) ;D

When I'm shooting trap or sporting clays, I just use a pair of shooting glasses with no extra magnification because I can still see very clearly at distance.

As I get older, I'm sure things will change.  I didn't need classes at all until about age 45.

Here's a page you may want to check out - prescription lens inserts behind the shooting lenses, not too terribly expensive.

Anti: I think some of you gentleman would choose to apply a gun shaped remedy to any problem or potential problem that presented itself? Your reverance (sic) for firearms is maintained with an almost religious zeal. The mind boggles! it really does...

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

Yikes! Fixed, thanks

Also, google ESS ICE for more reviews and sellers. For example, Cops Plus has the three lens system for $41-42. Prescription insert is $27 there.

I resurrected this thread because I ran across some new info that might be useful to folks. I had posted earlier a link to an article
that an Optometrist had put together on shooting and eye exams. Today I wanted to review that paper and googled the Dr's name...well another shooter has put together on one website quite a number of this optometrists articles. It looks like a really good resource to tuck away for reference or to pass along to your eye doctor....

I use cheaters for reading or close up ogling. I use standard shooting glasses with add on cheater lenses. get em wet and they adhere to the glasses. Instant bifocals.
