Any Info on the Armalite AR-24 Out Here?
« on: August 25, 2007, 08:15:29 AM »
OK...I'll try not commit Sig heresy, I do have one, but I don't have a 9MM (not counting the .380) and thought I've got to add one to the collection.

So...does anyone out here have experience with one of the Armalite AR-24's.  It looks a lot like the CZ 75B...so if it's not really kewl I'll get another CZ.

Thanks guyz,
Ken

I don't know how soon you want to buy, but the indoor range I go to sometimes is having an open house on Labor
Day weekend that I am hoping to go to. They will have Armalite sponsoring the event and they'll have all their stuff there to test fire. If I get out there I can let you know what I think. I'm no expert, but I enjoy a nice handgun.

I definitely have plenty of time to wait for your report.  I was spurred to interest by the NRA TV show and wanted to satisfy my curiosity right now.  Please let me know what you think when you get a chance to shoot it.

Thank you,
Ken

Is it that easy, just ask for one? What's their number?

And, do you have to give it back?

I have pined after one since I had seen the posts on the czforum when they were soliciting input there.  I still have not made up my mind if I want the 9mm, or wait for a .45 version.  It would go nicely with my AR-10.. :)

Of course my son has been after me to get a Sig 226 Equinox...

If your son is one of those two little dudes in the cowboy hats you'd better get the model with training wheels.

Yes, I have to give them back...or pay for them. And I won't lie to you...I do usually get a good price...although not always. Perversely, Sig gives me a really crappy buyout, and I have to wait forever for my T&E guns. Am still waiting for the 556 I was going to get in April!!! LOL!

My inclination, if I'm in the bucks, is to add the gun to my collection, because sooner or later I'm going to need it for a comparison or another test or to video.

Also — and this is a SUPREME rationalization!!! — I feel like because I am a professional in the field, I SHOULD be spending a certain amount of money on hardware, because it is how I keep myself sharp and on top of the field. One of my competitors makes it a point of saying that he always returns — and never buys guns — that's because he once told me that for the life of him he didn't see what I liked so much about guns and shooting! I love guns and shooting, and the only way you learn more is by shooting stuff.

I just purchased a Walther P-1, the alloy frame version of the WW2 P-38, because I haven't shot one in years and the price was right. I have a deposit on a semiauto version of a Czech Skorpion .32 ACP subgun that hopefully is coming into the country. I'm always in the market for older S&W N-frame or Ruger Flat-top revolvers....

I love what I do, and when I'm bored, I go to the range!

Well Jay, that picture is a few years old, but you are correct.  That does not stop him from wanting them, and it doesn't stop me from possibly buying one.  If nothing else we need 3 of everyting at least.. :)  I have always wanted a Sig anyways..

And, if you've got it set up right that's equipment for your profession and you oughta' be able to write it off of income and depreciate it too!

Bidah---I've got 3 boys, a part of the reason for collecting is to insure they have something later on.  You may want to look at AK-47 kit guns...$115 for a kit with auto-trigger group (info only, can't use it!!!), buy a flat, trigger group, stock etc and you've got $200 or less into one.  You are allowed to, I think, build one gun a year.  Since the receiver is the gun and the kit comes without a receiver, that flat becomes a receiver when you bend/manufacture it...and, as I've been told, no paperwork.  Bunch of people in the Tulsa area are buying the kits....
