From Rueters April 1...

"GM, which has reported losses totaling $82 billion since 2005, plans to focus on four key brands -- Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick and GMC -- under the more aggressive restructuring that has been ordered by President Barack Obama's autos task force."

Looks like Pontiac, Saturn, Saab and Corvette will come to an end after the new CEO (Obama/Congress) get done with them...who knows about the Aussie division and the stuff made in Europe...

Chevy had an equivalent, but it failed, Chrysler had the K car, FAILURE, many others,...

Corvette is a car in the Chevy line. Not a brand.

I stand corrected kind Sir.  I knew that, but had forgotten that although they are a seperate division, they are still a Chevy.  Personally, I've not cared for them since about 1967.

I will add that with about 1700 planned for 2009 at $100,000 a copy would not bring a lot to the table in saving the bacon of GM....let em go, build something that the common man can afford.

Remember the average income in this country is about 50K.....the level at which Congress considers you "wealthy"...

You are correct, when they were powered by Ford, the originals had suspension issues related to horsepower.  It took Americans that had the ingenuity to beef up many of the chassis parts and suspension, improve the brakes, and even get 427 Cobra engines in there somehow. The ones I have seen up close in Charlotte, NC pushed 475hp and were not junk.

But it was an attempt to push the envelope. It seems today, they have lost the reality of the market.

How many years behind is the New Camaro, it was supposed to premier a year and a half ago,...

You're referring to the new ZR1 Corvette.  The regular Corvette starts under 50K ($49,515).  The average new car price is now above $30K.
